  1. That feature has been there forever, well at least as long as I have been around. you also need to print in color and set your print driver to greyscale.
  2. Have you tried this, then use grayscale in your printer setup, you can also turn color off to see what you get.
  3. Sometimes the site data macros just won't update and all I get is a blank site data analysis, I then have to restart chief and everything is ok . Doesn't do it every time , just sometimes.

Well I don't know any framer that wants to use trusses unless it's a new stand alone project, they are all aware of the price but it doesn't phase them at all. They have all been around forever and I have drawn for them over 45 years. they also aren't just framers, they build the whole project ,sell it and pay for it. Maybe its different where you are.

In the remodeling field we never use trusses and contractors here don't want them for several reasons, the existing house isn't square, the framer then must cut each rafter to work. Drawings are mostly hand measured so it could be off there also. there are no exact measurements. If I do have trusses on a plan it just to show the existing trusses, but the new is always stick built.
  6. turn on the Deck framing layers
  7. Looks to me like you could use a shelf ceiling there/. if you used walls for that fireplace, it becomes a room
  8. I have done it a few times over the years without any problems
  9. how about adding (N), (E) to the room name, I;'ve been doing it that way for many years. add an explanation to the heading
  10. Or just add existing or new to the room name (E), (N). It will show in the room finish schedule.
  11. Yes I do call the exact floor I need to display and always have, never had any problems with it.
  12. I think you need to change an option for the symbol to insert into wall
  13. here is a short video about those pesky door header lines https://www.screencast.com/t/oJV2AyXi sorry about no sound I forgot to switch microphones. if anyone needs sounds let me know and I will re-do it but you can see what turns that setting on and off. you do need to set it up first b/c it will not change existing doors unless you select all of them.
  14. I went to Chieftalk an d found a link that Scott had put there, my old link didn't work either.
  15. Thanks for a very good meeting learned something today. I got cut off for a while there but I got back in later, not sure what happened.
  16. Do you have enough printer memory installed , this happened to me a long time ago when I had a plotter, now I just print to pdf and hard print from that. just a guess though
  17. Slabs are rooms , you can add a room label in each slab area and if you have your room labels set up correctly ( including the square footage macro) it will show. You can also just create your own custom room labels and place them in the rooms, that's the simple way to do it. you can also just create a p-line around the slab area with the area macro included in the label, turn on p-line labels. Many ways to do it.
  18. you can also just use an opening (door) with no casing or jamb and stretch it across the opening, which you will need if you have a trey ceiling in one room. one good thing is it will give you a beam.
  19. with open different ceiling heights I will just drop the ceiling height in one room and use a room divider wall and it will fill that area in automatically. for walled areas I use a ceiling plane for the drop especially if I need the ceiling joists abv. to continue a the higher level. 2 different methods for 2 different conditions.
  20. Ceiling planes work great for walled enclosed rooms but when you have an open side use a room divider wall for that side and in most occasions that will fill in the dropped area. make sure those room dividers walls are on and not invisible.
  21. ! use ceiling planes for dropped ceilings, I need the framing that can be created in any direction.
  22. Steve, your videos are top notch also, enjoy every one of those, As long as I have been around, you would think I know everything, but no!!!!!, I'm always learning every day and it doesn't ever stop.
  23. What I enjoyed with Scott's videos was the fact there were laughs and , I actually like seeing the path to getting to the final solution including the frustrating parts so I don't make that mistake. I know he did thousands of them. I enjoyed my Saturday morning funny's . Scott and I did a couple of Chief training sessions in San Diego in 2005, great guy in person also. A few years ago we also attended the Simi- annual user meetings--Great times for sure.
  24. I love them to much, not using them is out of the question
