Slabs are rooms , you can add a room label in each slab area and if you have your room labels set up correctly ( including the square footage macro) it will show. You can also just create your own custom room labels and place them in the rooms, that's the simple way to do it. you can also just create a p-line around the slab area with the area macro included in the label, turn on p-line labels. Many ways to do it.

you can also just use an opening (door) with no casing or jamb and stretch it across the opening, which you will need if you have a trey ceiling in one room. one good thing is it will give you a beam.

with open different ceiling heights I will just drop the ceiling height in one room and use a room divider wall and it will fill that area in automatically. for walled areas I use a ceiling plane for the drop especially if I need the ceiling joists abv. to continue a the higher level. 2 different methods for 2 different conditions.

Ceiling planes work great for walled enclosed rooms but when you have an open side use a room divider wall for that side and in most occasions that will fill in the dropped area. make sure those room dividers walls are on and not invisible.

! use ceiling planes for dropped ceilings, I need the framing that can be created in any direction.

Steve, your videos are top notch also, enjoy every one of those, As long as I have been around, you would think I know everything, but no!!!!!, I'm always learning every day and it doesn't ever stop.

What I enjoyed with Scott's videos was the fact there were laughs and , I actually like seeing the path to getting to the final solution including the frustrating parts so I don't make that mistake. I know he did thousands of them. I enjoyed my Saturday morning funny's . Scott and I did a couple of Chief training sessions in San Diego in 2005, great guy in person also. A few years ago we also attended the Simi- annual user meetings--Great times for sure.

Not here, lumber is one of the most expensive in the home. Framing is also one of the most expensive things. -
Tempered glass behind toilet
DRAWZILLA replied to Alaskan_Son's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
My son built a large commercial building in New York and he had to pay someone many thousands of dollars just to build it or there could be trouble. He said that's the way it is in that area. -
I recently went to a 4k monitor and Chief messed with all my blocked text like that, not sure why though, not fun

Check for an updated mouse driver or video card drivers. You can also try to use the standard Microsoft mouse drivers.

Tempered glass behind toilet
DRAWZILLA replied to Alaskan_Son's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
It might be in the code but I haven't seen it enforced around here. Gee someone might fall out that window, very dangerous. I don't think my head would fit. -
Sorry joe , I read it and deleted it, but it was listed with the download.
-
Joe the list was with the download as a separate item

the plan checkers probably want the plans to be inline with the energy calcs.. North, South etc.

Symbol for Existing Electrical and Tele Outlets?
DRAWZILLA replied to RDFnow's topic in Symbols and Content
no, you need to place the item in the plan, then change the cad block associated with that electric symbol to add existing. then change the label to what you want it to say..Add the changed item to your lib. for future use. -

Around here, I have done over 4000 additions over 45+ years, and at least for 30 of those years I have needed all existing interior and exterior walls to be shown. I deal with about 50 cities so they vary in the amount of detail needed. A lot of the time we need to brace existing walls for earthquake. also we must show existing for all the energy requirements also needed on every job.. Sounds like fun doesn't it?
