Larry_Sweeney
I've been away from CA for a couple of months on other projects but I downloaded X7 beta recently and I'm getting ready to start a new project (actually three) and am wondering what are the thoughts on the forum with using the beta version for new projects. Does anyone have any misgivings for doing this? Thanks and always appreciate everyone's advice.
Dennis_Gavin
One thing that has come up with some users is a lag in performance. 2 second wait on selecting check box in dbx, a little slower response in general. On the other hand some seem to be fine. Nothing earth shattering new in X7 so it might be worth waiting a few weeks for the official release. jcaffee
I would never use beta software, of any ilk, for production work. It's part of my process since...well, a long time ago. Many unreleased (beta/in development), trial, and free software has license terms which preclude commercial use. Not sure with CA, but as a practice, I don't use Beta. jon
jcaffee
Oh, and what Dennis said. There seems to be a lot of the X5 lag creeping into X7. jon

Gawdzira
I am using x7 for production work and would not turn back.
kMoquin
I've been using X7 public beta daily without incident for a few weeks. I am completely confident in using the public beta version for current work. (I do not use pre-release beta versions for anything other than testing.) DRAWZILLA
I have done about 19 jobs in Beta, full Construction doc's, and not had any problems that I couldn't deal with. I like it, other than X7 being a little slow.
BenPalmer
I'm using Beta for production, but agree with the lag, and printing is super slow. Hopefully the final release with these fixes come out soon. But the Beta is very solid otherwise. No more crashes in X7 that I get in X6, which are few. Good luck. Larry_Sweeney
Has anyone noticed if the lag was more noticeable when pulling an X6 plan into X7 and finishing it or does the lag occur and seem about the same if the plan started out in X7? DRAWZILLA
All my plans and layouts are from X6 then saved in X7 but I tried a new profile plan from X7 with the same slowness.
Larry_Sweeney
Thanks to all for your opinions. I guess for now I'll stay with X6 and just "play around" in X7. Have a great day. I keep telling myself that but our weather has been miserable here in northeast Pennsylvania. Can't wait for Spring this year.
VisualDandD
In the camp of using X7 beta. Have not had any 'major' issues. Noticing the lag, but appreciate some of the features...etc. I have completed several full sets of drawings with no issues.
Kiwideziner
been using x7 for a while now for full production, no problems except the lag. however I may be dreaming but put a better graphics card in on Sunday and obviously the latest drivers and think the lag may have reduced? DavidJPotter
I have been a Beta Tester on every version since version 8. So far, like Perry I have done several dozen projects in Beta 7 and on my machine there is no lag at all. I have found that Chief Architect Inc is very careful about the quality of its public beta releases and I have never been 'left in the lurch" by doing so. You do what seems right and safe to you and so will I. DJP
