Am I out of touch? Am I going nutty?
DRAWZILLA replied to dshall's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
here is a detail for a typical calif. eave, and I think it's to the prop. line -
I would try to set the memory to "in computer" and not to" in printer". that's what I use to do, but got rid of my plotter a long time ago.

DRAWZILLA replied to dshall's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Yes, I have had to do this for about a year now but not every city catches it yet so I just leave the detail for that off unless they call for it. Most cities around here use the 5' rule. just another bs rule. -
We also like to make our own labels by using macro's instead of Chief's labels, that way you have more control.
-
Just hold down the "x" key and grab a corner of the label and drag while holding the x key down.

I always build the framing first, then add the trusses. When you re-build walls floor and ceilings. the conventional framing (the automatic ceil and rafters) will go away and the trusses will remain in those areas. A lot of times I have both types in one plan, works great.

Never have a problem with Adobe Acrobat , you can even reduce the pdf file size if you want or convert to whatever. -
Yep, Tommy, I do the same.

Not when you have 25 page sets.

Not me, Windows 10 will not install b/c Alienware (Dell) will not update any drivers b/c my machine is 5 years old.

I know an engineer in Anaheim you can use, he just needs full scale prints, and does no drawing, just for markups. P.m. me if you want his number

My laser device also loses communications with my IPad, all the time, Chief told me there is a setting (timeout type) I need to change but for the life of me ,I can't find the timeout setting I need to change. I lost the connection with my Disto when I upgraded to ver 9 so I waited for the newly released ver 9.1 and now I get a connection thru room planner, but it doesn't register in the Bluetooth section in the iPad, at all. Strange. I do agree it does take longer using room planner, I wish the dimensions were all on all the time and would stay if you wanted that. I'm not sure I can trust it at this point. Being able to lock a room would make me feel better about accidently changing a room I already did.

Issue importing word shearwall schedule into Rich Text
DRAWZILLA replied to RL-inc's topic in General Q & A
I just have the word viewer only -
Either turn on rafter blocking or draw your own if it doesn't generate automatically, its in the roof DBX. Check all your framing layers for that camera view.
-
I like that idea.
-
That must be included with the macro package.

What is the best way to depict Floating/Hanging walls?
DRAWZILLA replied to Haunch's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Here in Calif. we have to tie everything down, tie the wall & floor, and roof down ,and everything stays put. -
Most of the time trusses are not effected by interior walls, windows ,or doors, ceiling changes and roof changes will mean you have to re-do the trusses. so get your roof and ceiling in order first before putting trusses in. also make sure your exterior walls are set. If there is changes to that stuff, it's very easy to repair the trusses if you have to.
-
For that gap just select the roof planes and move them in the -z direction to move them down a bit. use the transform / replicate tool
