  1. No, I'm talking about the rafter and ridge/ hip framing as you can see in your pic. The ridge shows through the gable wall and you shouldn't see it below the rake or fascia boards, it should reduce like rafters do. This has been this way forever and we have put in many requests over the years.
  2. Also that ridge should reduce, as not to show as in real life. This includes hips
  3. You can also create a window well using walls and a low slope roof for the floor
  4. If you look at your curb in real life, at least around here, it's still there just lowered.
  5. Try checking the box that railing wall to "Balloon thru ceiling".
  6. Yep, just trying to get the model as accurate as possible is important to us.
  7. Have you tried doing it at a higher resolution
  8. Yes, thanks Michael, although I don't think the continuous fans have enough impact on the make up air to make any difference to the make-up air, but I suppose you guys up there probably have special codes b/c its so cold.
  9. You can also change the dim text size to 1/16 and you won't see it.
  10. You have to modify the cad block that is attached to the symbol. Easy to do, but it will take you a while if you want to change every one. make sure you save it to your template plan or you will have to do it every time.
  11. A macro would also work but someone needs to create it for you. I have my electrical contractor do those, if needed at all.
  12. Never have heard of anything like that, maybe it's a new type of group meeting or user based thing.
  13. Here in Calif. we relish make up air and actually have to install a fan that runs continuously all the time for new homes and additions over a 1000 s.f. The reason for this is to generate a continous negative air pressure inside the home. Because windows are so tight these days, they want fresh air to rush in when you open a door or window.
  14. I have found that with additions you have to figure the energy using the existing plus additions to get them to work
  15. I hope I can remember this next time I do this, big time saver. Maybe I should make one and save it to the lib.
  16. Yes, I'm just tired of always getting kicked out of here.
  17. Make sure your bedroom windows (if you should replace those) meet the egress codes, every window Manf'r should know that , but they don't.
  18. If the cabinet is in 2 rooms just open up the camera DBX for the wall detail and check to "ignore railings and invisible walls", then you will get both rooms.
  19. No, I'm just saying that before the CBC came around, it was up to the local fire departments to enforce in certain areas or not. There was a separate fire code. Way back ,we had to submit plans to the fire dept. for approval. Remember that? Now except for commercial , the plan checker does it but not always, in some cases.
  20. I use Ohagins flat vents all on top of the roof. and on every job. http://www.ohagin.com/
  21. The only thing is that what he says might mot apply to California ,and we have had fire codes for many years, only we didn't enforce it all the time.
  22. you are correct. 2013 california building code based on the 2012 IBC. Residential code (CRC) is just same thing but just for residential
