  1. Roof lines are too basic for a custom home. When the roof lines are basic then the inside will also be basic. It would take some thought time to get it smoking hot. You can do a lot by changing the roof lines vertically. Good luck
  2. Yes, they are macro's that come with the program. Just put them in the room label defaults
  3. That's why I have floor and ceiling heights in my room labels, you can see what happened right away.
  4. I think he is talking about the metal inserts, you just need to slide it forward and place a pass-through, for the opening.
  5. It doesn't have anything to do with trusses, but it tells the program how to build the trusses which you must do manually, you can always force a re-build of any truss by checking the box.
  6. Just select any roof planes you want and select the little framing icon in the edit toolbar and just those roof planes will rebuild.
  7. Here in the L.A. area it nothing but tract homes with a few customs, so it works well for me.
  8. Larry has dual Zeon's, it would be interesting to see the difference.
  9. My Sam / Template plan is about 20+ pages and has everything I might need with any given job on it. It's a lot easier to delete, than create things. With the auto sheet index and auto section/ elevation pages, I can delete a lot and it's still good to go.
  10. I always use an existing plan, and a new plan also, A lot of times I will get a call for another job on the same model or a second job on the same model. This has happened to me at least a 100 times in the past. Like those jobs , the existing plan already done.
  11. If one wall is set to "no room def., you can do it.
  12. Just put the existing walls on their own layer and uncheck (Mat) in the layer's column. A lot of times you are patching existing walls , so include any walls you think you might patch. I use new and existing walls but don't worry about the materials list. Once it's set up correctly in your template plan, it will work smoothly but its a lot of work to set up. I use a cad mask for any demo work, it doesn't mess with the model and when you remove a wall, the cad mask shows up automatically. Search cad mask here.
  13. Yes I remember, if you do your 3d prior to blocking it will be good, but really why after 10+ years, can't Chief fix that. We used to ask to show blocked framing for many years, I guess we gave up and forgot. I guess that's why Chief recommends to frame last. I actually frame very early on. I actually use p-solids for those. Boy the chargers stink this year, maybe it's on purpose, so the league will grant the move. we do need someone, why are we getting 2 teams, I don't get it. New England ,Wow, if you get them, good deal, but I think if they are willing to move ,LA should have them.
  14. they stay if you block them together before re-building.
  15. Joe's macro's are great, they have saved me lots of time drawing.
  16. You can see in the picture that a drywall layer is going thru the outside wall, just use the "edit wall layer intersections" tool to bring it back to where it should be.
  17. I don't think it looks like a spiral stair to me. I pretty sure Scott's post would apply.
  18. Every new release has given me new tools to save time, and for me that's what it's all about. I always upgrade and Chief gets me out the door sooner every time.
  19. The reason the storage room doesn't work is that those 2 walls are probably set as attic walls which have no room def. Just uncheck no room def. and it will convert to a room.
  20. Yes, use a sill without an apron
  21. I have to use it on sections for mono slab foundation flubs
  22. Where is Scotts waterfall video when you need it?
