cjanderson66
I am not sure what has happened but when I create a trey ceiling my vertical sides of the depth that I have called out are not showing. Am I missing something? I have tried turning on all the layers but that still does not fix it. I am having to create a molding around the perimeter of the trey celling to cover it up. Any thoughts? Kiwideziner
I had that a couple of months ago, was in a hurry so just did cad work on the xsect to cover it up. Was meaning to get to the bottom of it but have not had time, probably should have sent to CA as it seemed like a bug.
GeneDavis
What's a trey ceiling? I know what trey is in basketball and card games, but in architecture and building, no.
Chrisb222
I knew a kid once they called Trey. We used to tie him up to the ceiling. Is that what we're talking about??

Ridge_Runner
Good one, Rich, but should have been recessed!

Chief's Trey Ceiling does not play well with invisible walls , so you are best to use other methods for that , eg a Polyline Solid and A P.Solid Hole for the trey. You know, I considered that but when I thought about it if I recess the trey, then what I am in effect making is a tray ceiling. No matter how you spell it, the usage of trey/tray can have grey/gray blurry areas of interpretation. In any event, in an attempt to offer some help to the OP, I went ahead and had a play with recessing the trey. FWIW, Chief's tools seem to be functioning as expected for me but this case is very uncomplicated . Funny thing is If you tilt your head just right, the ceiling bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain "Wings Joint" logo. BTW, God bless those nice young ladies.
MoeGia
Rich, you're a hoot! Can you raise the tray portion to be higher than the ceiling joist height and still have it work? Maybe 12" high with 2x8 jsts.
Rich_Winsor
Moe, you're giving me too much credit. I'm basically an image guy. I'm just using Chief's tools to get the image results I want regardless of how it would be built. Are you talking about increasing the depth the tray ceiling is recessed into the ceiling? If so, sure, I can make it look like that.
