  1. For me, I just took a couple of in person Chief courses at a city near me for a couple of weekends. That and this forum and all the wonderful friends here was all it took, especially my friend Scott Hall who is the king of the workarounds. we were in the classes together. that was back in 2005 because we fought hard to help with the development of Chief, we don't need those workarounds anymore. I think your best bet is right here after you understand how Chief works. Worked for me.
  2. All I see here is a lot of everyone guessing on what will happen in the future. No one really knows at this point. We should all just cool it until we know for sure. Only thing we know is that some prices will change. For me nothing changes yet.
  3. So, if you already own Chief, nothing changes. I don't see any problems at this point until chief changes that. New chief sales just have to suck it up and charge accordingly.
  4. carefully adjusting the colors and printing in grayscale can be quite good and less expensive to print. the lighter the color, the lighter the gray line can be.
  5. you know what it said 525 earlier today when I checked, and now it says 595. I looked in the buy/ renewal tabs
  6. I think our existing license has no change as long as you pay the ssa on time, but once you don't pay on time, you cannot pay later, and you must switch to another account. that's the way I read it.
  7. I have been using liquid cooling for about 20 years now, luckily no problems.
  8. I have a remarkable 1 for all my field notes and measurements and love it, no paper needed ever, and its all stored on the cloud. Also prints in pdf.
  9. i actually like the stream deck much better than finding the tools in a toolbar or dropdown, less clicks for me for sure.
  10. I did try using a Disto and room planner several times, it took me 3 times as long to measure, not for me either. But it was good to transfer it directly into Chief. Room planner had no way to take the outside measurements also.
  11. Larry, my wife Penny does all my measurements and gathering up all the information along with about 200 pictures and I'm good to go. Sometimes I will have a question, but the photos will most of the time tell me what I need. She will also crawl into an attic and take photos. She is a lot more limber than I.
  12. to find out the layer of anything, just select it and open it and go to the layer tab to see where it's kept or change it to any layer you want. Or you can select anything and look at the bottom of the screen and see what layer it's on without having to open anything.
  13. Sorry, i don't get into anything more than 3 stories, but they can be detailed. I never do any commercial either. Not sure how chief would handle that.
  14. I have a 3060 24 gb, and it works just fine for me
  15. @Joe_CarrickJoe, do you see any problems moving to X15 when it's ready, is there any changes needed with your system. Thanks
  16. what really matters is that I add all the square footages for my square footage price. For the cities, it might differ from that depending on the city, I usually have to check with them. 50 different cities are too much especially when they change constantly and often, even amongst different plan checkers in the same city
  17. Joe, all I have to say is "wow", this is perfect for me. you have done a lot of work on this. thanks
  18. that's a new one for me so far, hope it never happens around here
  19. i have been going to the outside of the stud wall-no finish, and have been forever, the cities seem to allow it.
  20. sometimes errant line will go away when you actually print it.
