2x4 Framed Exterior Walls and Energy Code Compliance
DRAWZILLA replied to GeneDavis's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Here in California the required 2x4 or 2x6 is what the project as a whole calc.s out to. Mostly new construction goes with 2x6 exterior walls but it all really depends on what climate zone you are in and does the whole project as a whole calc out to work with 2x4 walls or not. Most of the time with additions I can use 2x4 walls with r-15 insulation, it really depends on windows and what's inside that matters. -
Or make that wall balloon through ceiling.

One thought is to make sure that the C.J. framing in the room DBX is checked as default, and the default C.J. is checked framing.
-
here "green" means energy efficient, so a reflective color roof would be inn order .

I build those lattice roofs using a deck on the 2nd floor adjusting the decking to 2x2 spaced 2" or whatever you need. it also frames the posts and header, very quick.

the builders I draw for have their subs provide me with the info. needed. they markup a plan, then I transfer that info. Doesn't happen very often, maybe 2 times in 10 years..

I don't use Rescheck but i always try to get the best energy efficiency under the budget provided to me.

You can also use a double 2x4 stud wall designed as a single wall and use a niche for the opening in the wall

DRAWZILLA replied to Drew-PRH's topic in General Q & A
I just add an s.c. to the label of exterior doors and a h.c. to the interior door's labels. This is in my template plan, so I do it once and it's always there.. -

DRAWZILLA replied to alohadesignkathy's topic in Sales Related Questions
yes but the question as I see it is, can we still use X14. I think yes -
You need to push them together better so each window meets in the middle of the other wall.
