  3. I know I'm necroposting, but I had a bunch of layers in my template that I could not find for the life of me... I finally realized that I could simply "merge" them all into a user layer that I actually was using. In fact, it's possible to merge user layers into system layers, you just need to pick them in the right order. Just an option for those of us looking to clean up our templates.
  4. Where did that "boxed" lintel go? -It's not in my x14 library (almost ten years later)

Through Preferences, I've managed to tell the DBX to not include web results and to preview in Standard rendering mode, but every time I open the DBX I have to go tell it to show me filtered results in Tile Mode. Every time I close the DBX, it defaults back to showing filtered results in List Mode. I have hit that "lock panel" icon a million times, seems like it doesn't change a thing. What am I doing wrong?

  7. I'm trying to work out how to put together a Braced Wall Panel schedule. I might be looking at it backwards, but here goes. The way I've been doing it / the way my regional municipalities like to see it is, for example: Wall 'A' will be CS-WSP. The overall wall is 24' long, and along it there are two 3' wide windows, which gives us two CS-WSP sections that are 7' wide and one that is 4' wide. I want an object or a polyline that I could assign as parts of Wall "A", and would add together the different sections along 'A' so that they could relay in the schedule that the total CS-WSP provided along 'A' is 18'. There are additional things that it would be great to relay, but if we could start there, I'd be off to the races. How should I go about making something like that? I saw that there was discussion about this back in 2018 and that Joe_Carrick had developed something, but I imagine that much has changed in the last 5 years...
  8. Can CA do this? https://www.rhino3d.com/features/rendering/materials-and-textures/pbr/ We have Rhino, and their v7 PBR material editor is incredible: You just load a zip fie and it automagically populates all the maps. It would be great if CA could do something similar.
  9. Thank you for your answers: The Object Eyedropper does include Fill Style if the object is a closed polyline: It doesn't if the object is a CAD block, that's where my confusion was coming from. The Fill Style Eyedropper seems to do the trick for CAD blocks. Thanks again
  10. The properties that you can assign to other objects using the Object Eyedropper tool doesn't include Fill Style. Is there some other way to copy Fill Style to various objects? I'm trying to build up my library of details and I want to keep a consistent look to them... It would be much easier if I could copy/paste fill styles among various CAD objects.

  12. As of x14, it appears that the "Use Line for Framing" default is floor specific, but not view-specific. Compare 1st & 2nd floor of the Framing, Roof Plan View: FramingLines.plan
  13. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong that is giving me inconsistent roof framing results. In the attached plan (an OOTB CA plan template, BTW), leftmost example is using an Auto Floating Dormer. In Framing Camera 2, you see that the automatic framing doesn't create the valley framing where the dormer should join the main roof. Then in the middle example, I built the roof & dormers according to the instructions in this video. But now what we see is that the framing at the "rear" dormer is correct, but the "front" dormer isn't building correctly. Please do note that I downloaded the file associated with that video and its framing builds correctly. I've pored through it and really can't figure out how my file is different or what's making hers work correctly and what's making mine not work. . One thing that's definitely apparent is that the framing pretty consistently builds correctly when the dormer is above the outer-most wall of the building. In the case of the middle example, the dormer is built above the building's exterior wall (and its framing doesn't build correctly, whereas in the rightmost example the dormer is above the porch "wall". That said, the aforementioned example builds the dormer above the exterior wall, rather than the porch railing wall. I guess what I'd like to know is: When I run up against the missing valley framing, is there a series of steps that I can take to correct it consistently? DormerHole_x13.plan
