  5. Depends on if you have a macro in the room labels, or just turn the layer off
  6. Yes Scott, that's it, you know Chief has gotten better over the years with dormer type walls. It use to be a lot more trouble. Putting those little triangle walls in the upper attic works all the time, you da man buddy.
  7. Scott, I also do it your way. Slab to stem wall has never worked for me, it reduces the stem wall when I don't want it to. That extra scoop footing along side of the stem wall works until Chief fixes this long, long, forever time problem.
  8. Larry, I would say ,you should do it anyway for lots of other reasons
  9. I would also be interested but try to stay away from landscaping of any kind.
  10. When Glen and Scott are there, I always learn something
  11. Jesus, does the man ever stop coming up with this stuff, is he an alien. Thanks buddy, keep them coming.
  12. I think the trick is to realize what is new in all the versions you skip, when bringing plans forward. If there were no mono-slab in the version you drew it in then Chief will give you default mono-slabs. If that's not want you want then you have to change it. That goes with every new item. You also might want to set up your defaults prior to bringing forward. I have actually created a new template prior to copying the old plan forward ,to the new template, not bring the plan forward just copying it to the new plan template. There will still be things to fix up no matter what you do. We can't expect Chief to figure all of that for us, there are just to many ways to get it done.
  13. With X8 ,Chief has always recommended to create new templates ,from Chief's profile plans and layouts. There were a lot of new features. Like auto updates for elevations and sections and camera views.
  14. Take the money you made on that one and vacation for a month.
  15. You can also zoom ,find the handle and drag it, much faster
  16. Copy a label text style or any other text style and adjust it to what you want. It will be used just for that purpose. I have maybe 30 different ones.
  17. look here. This is oob. I use a king stud and trimmer as standard but as we all know sometimes you need a 4x4 post.
  18. You missed the framing tab also, it has floor defaults

  20. Thanks tiger, at my age, I just cant get faster, but I am working good at getting slower.
  21. Placing Images A selection of Images are available in the Library Browser. Select one and click in a floor plan view, camera view or overview to place it. See Placing Library Objects. Creating Images Custom Images can be added to the Library Browser, as well as created in plan files. Chief Architect can use any image with a *.bmp, *.jpg, *.png, *.gif, *.tif, *.pcx, or *.tga extension. Generally, .png files work best as Images because this format has good compression and allows for the Image to contain transparency information. To create an Image in floor plan view 1. In floor plan view, select Build> Image> Create Image or Billboard Image to open the Image Specification dialog. See Image Specification Dialog. 2. On the Image panel: • Click the Browse button to select a picture file on your computer or enter the path to a valid picture file in the Image File field. • Select a 2D Plan Symbol from the drop-down list or click the Library button and select a CAD block or symbol from the library. The selected symbol represents the image in floor plan view. See Image Panel. • Specify the Size and Position of the image. 3. Specify transparency information on the Transparency panel. 4. Click OK to close the Image Specification dialog. 5. Click to place the new Image in floor plan view. To create an image in the Library Browser 1. In the Library Browser, right-click on an unlocked folder. 2. Select New> Image from the contextual menu to open the Image Specification dialog. 3. Browse to the image file you want to add and select your other options. See Image Specification Dialog. 4. Once created, the image is listed in the library folder that you right-clicked on. Size and other data is saved. Using Paste Image You can also import an image by first copying it to the system clipboard, then navigating to a Chief Architect window and selecting Edit> Paste> Paste from the menu, or by using the Screen Capture tools. See Paste Special and Creating Screen Captures.
