  1. Michael You never need to export any rendering, it will be blurry when sent to the layout normally. That is how Chief was changed in X8 with live views. I'm saying he doesn't have to export except for ray-traces. He can do it the hard way if he wants to. Your information is just wrong here. The post says nothing about printing. If I were the op, I'd try to actually print one and see.
  2. Re- read the post he is talking about sending to the layout. Not printing. All I'm saying is when he actually prints to pdf, they will have a good high resolution
  3. Larry it looks to me like he was asking about sending to the layout, The only picture (JPG,BNG) I ever send to the layout would be a ray-trace. The rendering views are just fine when you print it out, very good resolution.
  4. This is intentional by Chief, so everything will work faster, when you print to PDF or whatever ,it will print a a higher resolution .
  5. Sometimes I have to hit the refresh view button in plan view prior to sending to the elevation. Are you using live views or plot lines on demand or live. You can also refresh the layout view.
  6. Shadows can be set in each camera separately, open each camera DBX and check it
  7. Yes I knew that you could do it, but forgot that it was limited, never needed any masking, even for wall elevations, so didn't use it anyway.
  8. I always use elevations with shadows--no crashes
  9. Yes Scott even did video's on it but it was a long time ago.
  10. I know we use to be able to do it, what happened?
  11. Joe, do you remember how to shape the layout window?
  12. You don't need a mask, just send two different floor plans, 1 on each page ,and just pull a side handle to show what you want they can even be different scales. they mask themselves. you could also draw a cut line on the plan to show on both plans. If you only want to change the shape of the window, there is a way to do it but I forgot.
  13. me too, rt for everything but some things must use text
  14. It seems most of his latest post are advertising for some thing or another
  15. Yes, we all have our strengths and weakness's but Terry has gone too far.
  16. Gee Richard, I just don't have a problem with it like many others, I can't help if you don't. Chief just can't always do it like you want.
  17. Just make sure to set your defaults prior to tracing. Always set defaults first thing you do.
  18. This is not even close to applying to what I do, I am very legal.
  19. It's guys like Richard that wants to put all us designers out of business. I remember back in the day the AIA tried to get rid of designers so they grandfathered designers to licensed Architects, I have friends that went that way, some very successful ,and some not ,but they tried to eliminate designers and ,it didn't work so some Architects have been complaining ever since. It's never going to happen here. Now all they did was infiltrate their special group, with not so competent Architect's.
  20. like I said business and profession code allows it in California
  21. No, I do sign my drawings b/c the cities want me to along with my engineers stamp. do it that way for 40 years without any problems what so ever. Richard you are just wrong about a lot of this. You are allowed to sign your own plans period. It's a requirement around here. You always have a cow about this stuff, just cool and learn the facts.
  22. I do them all the time, of course I also have an engineer on every project, next
  23. 2x14 are pretty much a standard size here. I also use them for floor joists @ 24" o.c. when I attach to existing trusses and cut them off above for a new floor, b/c trusses are usually at 24" o.c. That way the ceiling gets to remain.
