  1. Its actually Chief Data Folder>Images>My Images (X12) but it only does it if the Screen Capture Tool is Setup to save an Image . It also adds it to your User Library for future use. If Screen Capture is setup to save a Picture it, it places and saves the Picture in the Plan on the CAD,Default Layer. M.
  2. Make sure plan is closed in Chief.....it locks the file
  3. There are a couple of tutorials in the KB , but look for a setting to do with "repeating" perhaps : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00786/creating-and-using-symbol-moldings.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00840/creating-a-custom-dentil-molding.html
  4. this is what I normally do and then add a Terrain Break on the wall (closer to high side usually not centered) and elevation data/regions either side of the wall. M.
  5. I assume you are in X12? I do have an old joystick plugged , not sure if that is why it shows for me....
  6. There is also a BMW Library and some recreational Vehicles too https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/985 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/1124 and a couple more too https://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site/library&reset=true
  7. No problems here , so I assume you haven't got this unchecked.....
  8. once placed , select it............. You can use the ALDO for alot of things, just uncheck the Box ....Walls may need to go on a Unique, "New Walls Layer" ( Vs Existing ) for example , so you don't turn them all off. M.

    railing

looks like you have Brick as the exterior wall material currently? try changing it to concrete and make the interior side the brick instead. ( since wall is reversed ) M.
  10. Chief may have disabled it , if it thought your Video card had an issue with OpenGL Rendering.... turning off Global Illum. is not a good idea if you use PBR Cameras though. (see below) You may not have this Setting on by Default ?........... set it in your Template File and you only need to do it once. From the Help file.... The Troubleshooting settings can be used to troubleshoot performance in 3D views. • Uncheck Use Enhanced Lighting to disable most lighting effects in Rendering Techniques that support lighting. This box is checked by default and should only be unchecked for troubleshooting purposes. It may become unchecked automatically if the program detects a problem with your video card. See OpenGL and Hardware. • Uncheck Use Global Illumination to disable lighting effects in the Physically Based Rendering Technique. This box is checked by default and should only be unchecked for troubleshooting purposes. See Physically Based.
  11. Delete and replace it .............. best to install Doors after you set it to a Garage Room. can also manually lower it if you prefer in the Door DBX M.
  12. This may point you in the right direction ............... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00344/modeling-a-subdivision-or-lot-with-multiple-structures.html
  13. Or use the Auto Stairwell Tool , when the Staircase in question is selected and it will do it for you......you can then adjust railings as needed. *** Edit thanks Rene ...see image below for Icon to look for , it can be used once per stairwell... unless you remove the open below and then you can use it again. M.
  14. Not really since you gave us No Clue as to what you are trying to do......Import Topo Data? .... nor provided any of the Files you are Importing.... let me Guess........... Import a DWG ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00719/importing-terrain-elevation-data-from-a-dxf-or-dwg-file.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01078/using-real-world-elevation-data-to-create-a-terrain.html Import GPS Data ? Some Chief Terrain Videos https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/101/terrain-and-site-plans.html Feel free to elaborate after you calm down M.
  15. There isn't one, (AFAIK still) which is why I started using this method with the Extra layer of Framing a few years ago, but there are other methods with Polyline Solids and Wall Material Regions with Multicopy etc too , some search on Forum should locate them too. Mick.
  16. Nope not needed if you just copy the Data Folder from OLD computer to the New Computer . Make sure you close Chief after Installing and updating the Core Libraries , then rename the Data folder per above and then copy the Data Folder from your USB Drive ( or over network) into My Documents on the New Computer. The Data folder , includes your User Library , templates etc , I also Keep my Plans (Client Projects) Folder in there, so it is backed up nightly with the rest of My Documents. You will need to reinstall the Core Libraries as noted above but Chief does that for you after Installing and activation , from the Library Menu. M.
  17. The Limit does include the Full Path number of characters including spaces etc, not just the Chief File Name ....you maybe right but I am not counting them from your pic A quick google finds plenty of supporting docs at Microsoft etc.... about MAX PATH LENGTH
  18. Windows not Chief has always had a File Path Max length ( number of characters), under Win 10 I believe it is now 260, not 255 though. But there are also ways around it with a Registry Change in Win10 ver. 1703 or higher BUT the Program must also be "long name path aware" to be able to use the longer path the registry change supports. M.
  19. Just re-install on the new computer , don't move them ( ie Chief Ver.Xs , Word 2003 etc etc) and then transfer the Chief Data Folders manually from the old computer , the Folders are all in the My Document Folder in a folder for each version , copy those Folders to a USB Drive and place them in the same locations on the Windows 10 computer... , typical I just rename the newly created Chief Data Folder ( made by installer) as Chief Data_Clean and drop the old Folder into my Documents to replace it , and next time Chief Ver.X opens it finds the old folder and continues on like normal.
  20. Interesting......... When your computer is connected to an external display, high-performance graphics remain on until you disconnect the display. If you want to use the higher-performance discrete graphics processor at all times, choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Energy Saver. Then deselect the automatic graphics switching checkbox. If you don't see the automatic graphics switching option, your computer has one graphics system. To confirm, choose Apple menu > About this Mac, press the System Report button, and select Graphics/Displays on the left. The graphics system or systems are listed under Video Card. M.
  21. And here I was thinking it was some kind of Kia Vehicle ....... .....just joking..... But I do agree about Ray-Casted ...never thought that was right.... M.
  22. I think they wait till the Full X12 Release to update the List but there is a what's New PDF here : https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/marketing/x12-new-features.pdf
  23. When playing with Roof Purlins in another Thread, which were made from Lookouts, I ran into an issue with them "flipping", Michael (A_S) mentioned in that thread it was a quirk due to have Auto Framing Off and Auto Roof Build On at the same time , I am not sure if this is the same issue or not though.... M.
  24. If that is possible , Michael ( Alaskan_Son above), would be one of the individuals on the Forum, to talk to directly about a Custom Macro. Most people are not switching the Reporting style frequently , so my guess is your needs have not come onto Chief's Radar..... perhaps make a Suggestion in that forum. M.
  25. Ahhhh Ok , now it makes sense , I think they require your SSA to be valid for 2 months min. past the anticipated Released date which Renters/monthly payers don't have....
