By Rendered do you mean Raytrace ? ( I haven't done one in 2-3 yrs - now we have PBR ) An overview uses the STD camera, same as the Full or other Perspective Cameras so they should al have the same issue. It's possible your Core library materials are corrupt in X12 ...maybe... since the rest of us seem to have no issues with the File. Can you do a File>Backup Entire Project> ( check the Zipfile Option) and post the Zipfile ........this will include every referenced file used in the plan so we will all have the exact same textures for testing. If you have PDFs etc in the Plan then Strip them out and maybe the Cars and Plants since those appears okay and hopefully the file will be under 25mb so you can post it. M.

I you are having Issues with anything, don't forget to also check the CA KnowledgeBase (KB) too . for FAQ's / tutorials ( with downloadable PDFS ) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00078/creating-an-open-below-room.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03012/creating-a-storage-loft-in-a-larger-room.html

Auto Wall Opening framing headers not correct - please confirm
Kbird1 replied to CARMELHILL's topic in General Q & A
Wasn't you AFAIK, though you may have started a new Template for X12? Framing set to Calculate From Width ,unchecked is the Default in Chief's Residential Template in X11 + X12 for both Windows and Doors it seems, just ran into this recently myself. M. -
Try marking the New Wall as a Furred Wall on the Structure Tab Chief also calls them "Marriage Walls" ...or used too... normally used in Duplexes etc as Fire Walls. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00925/using-marriage-walls.html M.

I'm confused ...cos , that image I assume is from the 1070 ( what I have too ) and it looks fine to me ? ....so what is the annoying issue as I see no pixelating now? perhaps time to return the Radeon under warranty ? it may have bad memory or something.... M.

Plan looks fine here in X11 or X12 , so I'd suspect the AMD Radeon either has a Hardware Issue or a Driver Issue , since even now an old X11 plan looks bad for you. Out of interest try turning off Shadows in the camera Views and see if it has any effect. There was a bad Windows update last week that got me too but they have since fixed it and it installs correctly , been a couple of years since I had a bad WU though. If you need a new Video Card , consider going Nvidia which is what Chief recommends , any gaming card is fine , Chopsaw and I still both use older 1070 GTX's which work fine. ( no need to spend money on a Quadro unless you need it for other Software. Mick.

When was the last time you updated the Radeon Drivers? how much Video Ram does it have ...all details you should add to your Forum Signature...along with your Version ie X12 M.

If you had SSA but it is not current , they used to have a forgiveness period to reinstate it , but that may not apply now X12 has been released, you'd have to talk to Sales to get the correct info.... M.

Take a look here at Chief's Post on S.D.

Since you are on a MAC this post may help .....

Paint will work , it is very "basic" with no frills is all...... I used it in this Tip to make a new Tile Material for example..... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/24813-how-to-make-a-screen-grab-of-a-tile-into-a-tile-material-in-chief /

Paint works just fine if you are familiar with it ? there is also the newer Paint 3D on most PCs. Paint.net is free if downloaded from their Site direct , (not the M$ Store too) https://www.getpaint.net/download.html a better download link......................https://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/index.html https://forums.getpaint.net/forum/18-tutorials-publishing-only/ And there is the longtime Free Standby GIMP too. There is a Material in the other File in that Thread but as Eric Pointed out these days you can likely make a better one fairly easily, then use the Pattern from the Thread too for vector views. Patterns = Vector Views Textures = 3D Views Like Standard. ( seamless Textures are best ) M.

Have you rebuilt the Trusses , if you changed the overhang etc? it is not automatic..... you may also need the Allow Low Roof Planes Setting to be ON so Trusses will overhang other Roof planes properly ( think this was an issue a few versions ago and we got this setting to help with this) M.

I think it is so one User does not trying changing the file and perhaps corrupting it while open on another system , so I'd be careful for sure ( and have good daily backups)

Not sure this works anymore in X12 - can someone else test , maybe I am doing it wrong now , as I thought this used to work .... M.

Weird cos IE11 will load the Video's Page for me but I just get a black square where the Video should play..... so I've been using the ne Chromium based EDGE , which won't download the Videos either BTW...maybe a JAVA issue as many browsers don't support it anymore due to security.

Just in case you didn't find it this is what Graham is referring too ...set it up in your Template plan in Defaults and you won't need to adjust it in every new Plan. ( 8 lights is an old hold over from previous versions of OpenGL which no longer is an issue in Chief.) the other two pics are other Settings to try in your Template to make things look brighter in STD and PBR Views....

Like many CA Work arounds there are a few quirks indeed ...... Normally in the past I have done the "Battening" after the main Design Work so "customizations" and thus more work is minimised. Usually by just changing the Wall Definition from the non-battened Wall to the Battened Walltype and Framing it, and then "retaining Framing" after the Customizations like removing Doubles at openings are done. Have not tried it is X12 honestly , so I am not sure if all is the same , think I started using this back in X9 or maybe earlier and there maybe more Framing "options" now... M.

A guess.......looks like you tried to either install chief in OneDrive or your Documents Folder is on OneDrive and it was possibly not Accessible.

Each different type of truss yes, but not each individual Truss in the Plan , though a Force Rebuild is likely needed to update each Truss to the New Shape and Size. (Clicking Roof Truss Tool then do a Shift Select (Marquee Selection) around all trusses and "Force Rebuild " is usually enough.) M.

You can also use an extra framing Layer, for Full-3D, been doing it that way for a few years now..... same for Rain Screen actually. M. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16852-board-and-batten-library/?tab=comments#comment-141647

There is a small mention in the What's new PDF and Video I think , though it is not quite what I was hoping for , it is a bit easier to work with in some cases but has a few quirks.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/25526-polyline-solid-problem-in-x12/?tab=comments#comment-205009 In PDF :

Happy the post finally helped someone here too If your Sig. is correct ? there maybe and update for x12 for you ...22.1.1.1 is the latest I think , at least on Windows. -
I maybe wrong but I think the C for Camera is Hard-Coded and can only be changed once the Camera is Saved but you could in your Template Plan for New Plans, place and Save 4 - 6 - 8 or ? any number of Cameras labelled with the P# and just move them to required locations after the house is Drawn each time.
