  1. Literally a 5 second google search copy and paste: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/compare.html BTW: Edit: looks like Eric beat me..
  2. 5 second search finds this on chiefs own website. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html As you probably know CPU is important for ray tracing but GPU is arguably more important in almost all other aspects of Chief and of course proper memory so it doesn’t get bottlenecked and limited is essential. Good luck in your new search. btw here is a suggestion: https://www.google.com/amp/s/appleinsider.com/articles/19/12/13/no-apples-new-mac-pro-isnt-overpriced/amp/
  3. Many times the objects in the plan are to blame for slowing things down. If you inputted lots of 3d symbols especially from 3rd party like the warehouse or others it affects. Pdf and png or jpegs also affect it. And last but not least labels on slows it way down. As a side note. What “Signatures” above is talking about is very important even if it doesn’t seem to be to you. Really without having a plan file, screen shot, knowing what software and hardware you are using many are unable to help you and will pass by your request. They have limited time so will help others who do put everything in their post instead of asking you for them. I hope something here helps.
  4. I imagine there are many ways to do this. For just modeling the idea of a molding line comes to mind.
  5. Probably best if you upload the plan file. I don’t have this issue. Also can you please update your signature with not just the software but also hardware info. Many times the answer is dependent on what version and is sometimes tied to a hardware issue such as drivers out of date for you GPU as just example.
  6. I just wanted to add in there as he is too humble to do it himself: @Renerabbitt for anything to do with renderings or textures and mapping (along with others he obviously already mentioned...) As always a great Thank you to all of these guys!
  7. Yes as Builder said for sake of time sometimes that is the best route to delete the errant lines with the layout tool. Just note that it should be done right before printing as anytime the view is updated they will come back. Without seeing the plan it really looks like dimension line leaders. You might take a look at the settings for those two dimension strings and maybe try where you are grabbing the dimension from to the bottom instead of the top of the roof dimension. My guess is you did the dimensions at the top of the roof then manually moved that dimension line to the bottom of the dormer roof?
  8. Roofs are designed to cover rooms. If you are manually building a patio or deck area with posts and framing features (like with a timber-framed porch cover) you still need to designate the room for it to auto-build things. Many ways to do this but I use either railings that are invisible if I don't need the railing or room dividers (wall type) to delineate the room. Make sure the room has the flat ceiling turned off and in some cases you will need to delete the ceiling structure (even if you have it turned off.) and auto roof should work for that area.
  9. As Eric mentioned best to leave them in but hide them by changing layer or color to background color. Room labels/attributes will not work correctly and you will have some other "weird" little quirks happen if you delete them. I wish chief would automatically put them in on a separate layer or on the hidden walls layer.
  10. Glad you found your answer. BTW when you go to your post there is three buttons "Quote" "Edit" & "Optiopns", at the bottom and the one that says Options has the option to delete the thread so it keeps the forum nice and clean. Have Fun!
  11. The wall and cabinet have nothing to do with the countertop really. You can place a floating countertop. In this case Erick just helped you to know where to place it in height so it wasn’t being conflicted with the wall. He was referencing the link to that I sent above.
  12. Did you look at the article? It is pretty easy. Just draw it and set your heights, sizes etc. you don’t use the create countertop from cabinet button you use the custom countertop tool.
  13. Lots of really good articles and videos in the KB... try this: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01023/editing-a-countertop-into-a-custom-shape.html
  14. Place a doorway with moldings & labels turned off and remove from schedule.
  15. I use iCloud mainly as it syncs so well and is very robust. I do have a dropbox (I think they call it ultra) upgraded account as well as a google drive but those are shared drives with some clients. On top of the iCloud that I use I use a Drobo NAS with some quality HDD drives in the office which gets an hourly Time machine backup. I also time to time do a full backup of my user library to both the cloud as well as the NAS.
  16. Easy to render using a molding.
  17. Long time Mac user and the only time I have seen it not be on by default is when someone had a 3d party mouse before adding their apple Magic Mouse. I do always make some adjustments to speed and a couple of other settings when I setup a new Mac as well so I am pretty familiar with the mouse settings.
  18. Just noticed it was the other side but the principles hold true.
  19. Ok, let me see if I can understand what you are trying to do. First off yes always go clockwise, I try to do that in all aspects of drawing it from top to right down left. It is a good habit and then your walls are always on the correct side you want as well as your electrical connections go the way you want them to arc. Maybe this will help? When making that first bay of what I think the garage is supposed to be (it showed 11' for the right side) click the side wall that you want to move to make the 12' length then click the dimension line as shown and type. That wall will move over. Same as the left side. Works the same in polylines as well. Does that help answer what you are looking for? BTW Thank you very much for filling in your signature line. It surely does help as you will see! I am sure some of the guys who are much more skilled at this will chime in with some pointers as well. But have fun! It is addicting!
  20. Welcome to the Chief Family! In this case it might be best to post your plan to see what you are referencing. Just make sure that before you upload it you close it out of chief or it will stay locked and not upload to the site. Of course it is superbowl sunday so you may or may not get a quick response on this one... BTW from the Everett area, where are you located?
  21. You should probably move this post to Q&A (TIPS & TRICKS is to share your tips and tricks with others). But to answer I am a mac user and work with a couple of builders and a designer who use Chief premier x11 on pcs and interiors x11 on a mac and there is never a problem back and forth.
  22. Messing with an obj file from a Matterport a client of mine is working on. Pretty cool what you can do with it. Here is a quick pbr shot once I removed the ceiling layer with the slider.
  23. Foundation wall manually built and adjusted in elevation view
  24. I almost went this route but decided since I didn’t have a very fast processor and everyone was selling their 6.1 units for good deals on eBay so they can buy the new Mac Pro I would take advantage and got a 1 year old Mac Pro 6.1.
