  1. Create a notch in the main roof and pull it back so the the two roof planes no longer overlap. Click on the back edge of the curved roof, hit #2 then click on the notched in part of the other roof plane. The software will create a perfect intersection.
  2. The size of the file will increase dramatically but may be worth it. I use update on demand.
  3. Build - wall - fix fall connections. Click on that one and it may take care of some of the issues.
  4. The CA knows best stuff drives me crazy. The top wall plate should NEVER move no matter what settings you give the roof or roof framing. Everything being posted is just different ways of going about the same thing. The envelope can be made to be correct by a variety of methods. All these observations are reflecting the framing only (unless auto rebuild roof is checked).
  5. It looks like it is stopping at the ceiling just like you want. I must be misunderstanding the question. Why do you have so many walls so close together?
  6. I don't have a solution but I do have an observation. If you change the wall types to 2x6 walls, the problem goes away.
  7. Don't beat yourself up looking for a way to make that floor (roof of deck) slope. Just make a note. If you are hell bent on displaying the slope, shoot a cross section and draw it in manually. You can of course slope it if its a roof plane but Joe is right, make it a floor of a room.
  8. No snow but it is raining. Can you hit F6 and see how wide a view the plan goes to? If the offending object is way out there somewhere, it would be included in the screen after hitting F6.
  9. Save your "as built" as a separate plan. Do the remodel plan as a new plan file.
  10. import a picture of the sign it a flat image works. If you want the letters to be dimensional, you would have to place 3d letters.
  11. I think I know what this is. With your elevation active, switch the camera type to VECTOR. You will then be able to sent it to layout as a plot line.
  12. It has to be a cross section elevation. It sounds like you are trying to send a 3d camera view.
  13. You are probably trying to send it as an image. Click on "current screen" then "plot lines"
  14. Try sending your elevation to the layout as "plot lines".
  15. You may have some additional layers of your wall definition as "main layers"
  16. Yes, but you have to tell it to update. You can update all views at once with the icon that look like two arrows forming a circle.
  17. It is because you are sending it as a live view. Send it to layout as plot lines without the color fill and it will look right.
  18. Maybe you sent it to the layout as an image instead of a plot lines.
  19. Go to the library under millwork - columns. There is a tapered one made already.
  20. Just shoot a new cross section at any angle you want.
  21. Just shoot a new cross section at any angle you want.
  22. edit - edit area - edit (all floors). Follow that sequence and use your cursor to drag a box around you entire plan. It will allow you to move everything then.
  23. Probably not one that would need to support an offset upper level as he shows in the picture.
  24. This is a good example of the DANGER of computer design software. It leads the public to believe its all about knowing the software. It is not. It's about know how buildings are built and what can be done in the real world. If you are serious about becoming a competent designer, put your keyboard away and pick up a hammer for a year or two. Some real world experience will show you why the program will not let you design that particular mistake.
  25. That's a good tip. It will not regenerate again if it is shut off.
