You can just turn off soffits for the roof planes and add a molding p- line for the soffits where ever you want them. Draw the molding you need in a section view, then apply it to the molding p-line. then draw the molding p-line in elevation view and adjust the height you need.

I really like using the wall elevation views , they work for me.

If you balloon frame that wall it will show the vault in a wall elevation view. That is how it would be built in real life.

How to lighten up the roof fill pattern for plotting
DRAWZILLA replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
I have created several layer sets and anno-sets for everything I send to the layout, with line weights adjusted to what I want. It's all automatic. Like Glen said you can also adjust the material line weight -
I have been using an engineer for all my projects for 40 years now, no problem in California. He does do the markups and sizes and calc's including lateral . I just draw it all for him.- It's legal. He stamps his pages

Really shouldn't have to place a break in all you walls, seems like a waste of time. I have been just drawing a box around the outside edge and making it a thicker line ( like 55). I like that look better .

Maybe you have to use the edit wall intersections tool to miter the foundation wall to get that plate to follow. It really doesn't matter to me b/c it never shows in anything I show on the plan
-
Not me .looks like a shadow of some kind, I sometimes see shadows doing that

That's funny b/c in the previous downfall( around the early 90's) all the California guys re-located to Colorado.

Where are controls for deck posts when adding stairs?
DRAWZILLA replied to Clemsongrad's topic in General Q & A
Sometimes I have to turn off newels ( make them zero width) and just add my own. A lot of times I make the wall at the top of the stairs an invisible wall so there is no conflict with the newels. -
they are partially improved at this point- but still better than before.

Just change your newels to "0" inches. You can then manually add posts wherever you want. -
You really should keep any special textures in the X9 Data file in the textures file, that way you always know where they are, like macro's in the scripts file, toolbar file, image file, etc.. I wonder how many people actually use those files for storage. They now get brought forward automatically with every upgrade, I use to do it manually every time.
-
Note, you can also put macro's in those fields

look up Bristolite skylites. you need an "icc" number now http://www.bristolite.com/interfaces/productsummary.aspx?M=5&V=2

Thanks , Jere, forgot there was another page. For that railing wall only not for walls that are connected at the top.

Greg, what "A35, not sure where I mentioned it in this thread.

Too bad, California's version does.

I use "PDF" to save old versions of a plan, only sometimes will I copy and save as with a new design using the plan file, that is if I think the client might need to go back. eather way I have a record of all the changes made.
-
Thanks Dave, very nice of you to do this.

I draw with no pants on all the time, good air flow

I think you are out of luck with the lost files, good reason to back up everything, but call Chief on Monday and see if they will do something. Now without SSA you can still download some lib's but have to pay a small fee.

Putting Door In Interior Short Wall Not Working.
DRAWZILLA replied to VinnieVicon's topic in General Q & A
To bad you don't have X9 with the new shelf ceiling tool. -
or try the balloon thru ceiling tool.

Here in California we have had to deal with this **** for many years now. I believe if you provide a Rescheck report, that will handle the furnace size and water heater requirements. We use a different program special for this state. As for the duct design, no way other than getting a hold of a HVAC engineer and let him or her do it, or at least guide you on size requirments. Same for the electrical meter loads. The best way of doing all this is just bribe him not to do it.
