  1. some more info. One problem is that you cannot adjust the direction of the ceiling joists, you would have to fix the sections manually, if you don't frame the ceiling joists, you can add your own in the sections.
  2. here is one that I have used for 40 years, Just adjust your floor platform. Framers love it b/c you can get large beams in the floor system
  3. You can also transfer or download any AutoCAD hatch file and use those also. Just put it in the same file
  4. here is a pdf the shows all the Chief patterns, forgot where I got it. Fill Hatch Patterns Cheat Sheets.pdf
  5. I added a porch room there and still no rafters there in 2d
  6. The rafters show up for me in any 3d view, it's the plan framing view where they don't show up no matter what I do.
  7. You have to ask yourself, do I really need to show that valley board, you will never see it in a plan. Sure it can be done, but for me it's not worth the trouble.
  8. thanks Joe, I haven't had time to try it yet.
  9. CHIEF HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO STICK FRAME OVER TRUSSES--PLEASE FIX FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME. YOU HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY
  10. Thanks, Joe ,I'll give it a shot
  11. Some of the cities around here will tell you plan check is 3 months, unless you want to pay a ridicules expedite fee, usually double the plan check fee. The plan checker then takes it home that night and does it and gets to pocket the extra fee. My contractor clients always pay it, b/c time is money. I think they shouldn't be allowed to do it and just do their job. I really believe they are not as backed up as you might think. Extra cash is what it has come to.
  12. I kind of agree, it seems like printing is just getting slower with each version even when printing to pdf. X8 was faster.
  13. got a picture or post the plan with the camera in question labeled.
  14. remember you can cut the section line and move it to wherever you want
  15. It really is all about the money isn't it. sad but true. learned that many many years ago and everything is about the money.
  16. It's a wall, use the back clipped cross section and do not locate through the wall
  17. I never use view to cad for elevations, try sending it live from the section elevation view. This way when you have changes it's automatic. You can also use line weights to make it pop.
  18. I haven't had that problem in X8 or X9. Could be a model problem, and can't be your computer unless Chief doesn't like Zeon's.
  19. From lib. straight to the layout, but no scale, which is ok for me, I really don't want anyone scaling the details anyway. I have most of my typical details already on my layout template so send it once , never do it again. Any oddball details are in the lib ready to go or revise. If a detail needs to change permanently I just open it on a new plan, change it and re-save it, and delete the plan. This way it doesn't globally change the detail on every plan you have done in the past.
  20. As for the delay or fading, I have turned off "Edge smoothing when idol" and I now don't get that anymore. I think it depends on your system weather you need it or not.
  21. My lib. saved details are very easy to locate b/c I have them sorted in folders like Joe but they are not in any Cad detail windows.
