I have been trying Room Planner and the problem is "Notes" I need to make lots of notes and room planner just doesn't cut it, they make it too hard for noting. First you have to paste a note then change it, too many steps. It's just not good for that. Room Planner will also take you longer than pencil and paper, instead of hand drawing a door or window, you have to paste it in then adjust the sizes of them. For the measuring part it works great, it's just all the other stuff that goes along with measuring it. For now, I'll keep trying maybe I'll get better at it. Ps Room Planner doesn't have anything for outside measurements, that's another problem.

I never put any cad details in the plan file, they should be put on a Cad detail box, separate plan file or the layout. I keep mine in the lib. and have hundreds there. Cad in the plan file will slow it down.

if you turn off the layer "Ceiling break lines" they won't show, it a line automatically created when the roof plane goes lower than the ceiling plate line. Because you have soffits at the ceiling , you won't see it in 3d.

Yep Michael is correct, if you print in grayscale the lighter colors will print light, so keep your colors on the darker side. You will have to experiment for yourself to see what works for you. If you print in black and white then color doesn't matter. I print in grayscale and always have, I like the different gray types. Plan looks good especially when using different line widths for window, doors wall fills, roofs, etc.

I always print to PDF, then to the print service, never had that problem. I use the 1/100mm as standard but I have all my line weights set in the layer-set that is sent to the layout. I use line-weights from 12 to 200 depending on what it is. I set up my line-weights many many years ago and haven't touched them ever since.

We have been wanting this for a zillion years, and the materials list just won't be correct until it is.

I never turn off auto floor and ceiling framing unless I have to make any manual framing changes, then I will turn it off, but hate doing it. I try to keep all framing live if possible.

open the DBX and set its top height or just drag it in elevation view and make sure the layer is on for that object.

If you use the SAM method, it's already there for you.

Manually, conventional framed areas will not build over or under a truss roof automatically. Even the overhang won't frame where the 1st floor is trusses and the 2nd is stick build. trusses below causes it not to frame.

Nice thought, Nessie, but we in the remodeling business usually have lots of changes both before and after permits, I really don't want to re-do those roofs all day long. We usually can't lock anything until it done being built b/c if there is a change from the permitted plan, the cities want you to re-submit the change before continuing with the build. Just the kind of crap we go thru.

And as we all know you cannot frame a conventional overbuild over trusses unless you do it manually. Wish Chief would fix that.

I use live updates for prelims and switch to on demand for final drawings b/c sometimes, ( don't know why) some don't update always, when I have both the plan and layout open all the time. If I close the plan ,and re-open, the layout always updates.

That 96 dpi number is from your printer, set it higher in the printer settings, just s guess at it.

Just ray trace it, I can do ray traces in a couple of minutes. other than that your out of luck.

Don't know, looks like it did give the vault to me, I must not understand what you are asking, maybe framing is turned off in that wall elevation

We had a meeting with Marc (Scott sponsored) about cabinets and Marc said they all pretty much use a different code and he has come up with a macro that covers the cabinets he uses, but any others will need their own macro.
