  1. I create a new layerset called" referenced to foundation" and reference that to the foundation plan and only show the holdowns and shear walls.that I have actually drawn on the framing plan. You can also do it by putting all the shear stuff on their own layer.
  2. because the symbols will get very large if you include everything, keep them as small as you can. No reason to include things you don't see. Just copy your plans to a new folder and strip them.
  3. I'm not sure if Chief could handle all that in one plan, I would create a symbol of each building and place the symbols in another plan created just for that view. Remove all interior things before creating the symbols of each building. Only problem is if you have changes, you must re-do the symbols that changed.
  4. I'm talking about named room defaults vs. current floor defaults vs. framing defaults vs foundation defaults, vs. etc. They all have floor structure settings, which one do you use.?
  5. you could always try to restart your computer also.
  6. I don't like the fact that there are multiple places for defaults. There should be just one place.
  7. use a template plan to start your new plans
  8. did you check the scale box in the schedule DBX?
  9. I know that naming rooms mean a lot more than they use to.
  10. once you name a room using the room defaults, it could be getting the new info from there even if the defaults are different.
  11. Cannot edit PDF files from within Chief. You might need to re-size the PDF file in Chief to get it to scale and you can do it within Chief.
  12. I could be wrong but you can try to change your security level to level 1, just in case Joe doesn't see this. edit: sorry Eric , didn't see your answer
  13. Yes Eric but wouldn't';t that wall be balloon framed in real life. hinged is not good in that situation. Maybe just in California.
  14. or mark the wall below the missing attic wall as "balloon through ceiling".
  15. here is your plan fixed by just manipulating the terrain region and a few other things ( retaining wall). plan fixed.plan
  16. I think in his case he would use a stucco both sides wall anyway
  17. I like to break that 2x6 wall and reverse it and it should stick, but extend it like 2' beyond the other wall and just slide it back.
  18. You might want to post the plan so someone can look at it.
  19. I would use a terrain region located just under the slab.
  20. your not using a rich text box are you?
  21. what is you snap grid set at and is it on. set it at 1/8" if you want it to pick up those dims.
  22. The update did not do that for me, you can try to reset side windows
  23. Try to put your page templates at the last pages location and it won't mess up your page numbers. Just drag them there. PS, sorry didn't see Jared's post.
