  1. I use a tv monitor ( largest) with a second just monitor. For me Dvi just gave me 720p so you must use an "HDMI" connection for full 1080p. Also some TV's tell you they are 1080p but are really 720p, Check the spec's
  2. I also use the deck tools to create lattice patio covers, works great, you have to do it from the 2nd floor even if you don't have one
  3. Like Graham said, do you have a roof on it?
  4. I just did several wc's without any line extensions but I turn those to zero all the time . I like the look better when I'm not looking for the artsy look
  5. A material list is only as good as your model, so it need to be perfect to be accurate.
  6. You can set the sub-fascia to whatever size you need it to work, a framer might have to cut the eaves anyway, we do it all the time. if you set the sub-fascia to 0" ,the siding or stucco will go all the way up to the roof. Both Joe and Eric are correct
  7. It's just to easy to change what plan views in the layout so I agree the save as method will work for you.
  8. All I know is it gives you all the standard garage doors you can't get in the lib. You know the doors you see every day in every tract house.
  9. or, maybe your attic wall is not aligned with the wall below but balloon frame would be the way it would really be built.
  10. ok I was wondering how you did it, never thought of that one before.
  11. Eric's way only won't give you any automatic header over the 1/2 wall where Scott's way does b/c its an opening.
  12. It sure would be nice if we could select that opening in 3d view, without the casing having to be on. That's a real PIA.
  13. I found the free codes web site for anyone that cares https://codes.iccsafe.org/public/
  14. looks like you have a different wall type for the opening. You can just make that one continuous wall and use a passthru for the opening to the box out.
  15. LOOKS LIKE YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO BE THERE IN AN EARTHQUAKE
  16. I did the upgrade today without any problems you mention, try tech support but you better do it soon as they close for the weekend.
  17. I could make it Scott aren't you very tired from your cruise vacation, no relaxation at all I bet.
  18. I keep all my site plan and everything live. I use a separate layer set, anno set and reference set for everything sent to the layout to show anything I want with different line-weights colors etc. Then if any change are made, its automatic, you only have to change it once and done.
  19. I keep everything live and use the auto detail to cover up any problems with the section. I may also use a blank solid fill p-line for any additional cover up of stray lines. Most of my problems come from slab floors, But its an easy fix. Of course I also use a special anno-set for sections only to make it pop.
  20. you won't need to draw any cad lines if you can learn reference sets for roof and plot plans. I always keep everything live using what Chief gives us. I don't really like drawing cad lines on any plan. With the changes anyone might have, it's really the most proficient method, but may take a little time to learn.
  21. It only happens with certain conditions, but I don't yet know what conditions cause it
  22. I use a template method and not the full s.a.m. method and I have seen it also. I guess I use the almost sam method but there's nothing wrong with SAM if you don't mind all the junk in the trunk.
  23. learn to use layersets and anno-sets, and reference sets for all that
