  1. I found the free codes web site for anyone that cares https://codes.iccsafe.org/public/
  2. looks like you have a different wall type for the opening. You can just make that one continuous wall and use a passthru for the opening to the box out.
  3. LOOKS LIKE YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO BE THERE IN AN EARTHQUAKE
  4. I did the upgrade today without any problems you mention, try tech support but you better do it soon as they close for the weekend.
  5. I could make it Scott aren't you very tired from your cruise vacation, no relaxation at all I bet.
  6. I keep all my site plan and everything live. I use a separate layer set, anno set and reference set for everything sent to the layout to show anything I want with different line-weights colors etc. Then if any change are made, its automatic, you only have to change it once and done.
  7. I keep everything live and use the auto detail to cover up any problems with the section. I may also use a blank solid fill p-line for any additional cover up of stray lines. Most of my problems come from slab floors, But its an easy fix. Of course I also use a special anno-set for sections only to make it pop.
  8. you won't need to draw any cad lines if you can learn reference sets for roof and plot plans. I always keep everything live using what Chief gives us. I don't really like drawing cad lines on any plan. With the changes anyone might have, it's really the most proficient method, but may take a little time to learn.
  9. It only happens with certain conditions, but I don't yet know what conditions cause it
  10. I use a template method and not the full s.a.m. method and I have seen it also. I guess I use the almost sam method but there's nothing wrong with SAM if you don't mind all the junk in the trunk.
  11. learn to use layersets and anno-sets, and reference sets for all that
  12. Fully adjustable headers are already in the window and door DBX, just adjust those and draw a line for the annotation. Joe Carrick also has a macro that includes the line for exactly that purpose.
  13. wasn't sure if he had a working computer
  14. Don't forget to call tech support to have them deactivate your old copy of chief or your cant activate the new install.
  15. I think it the size of your project, Chief just doesn't handle a 90,000 s.f. project with all the stuff within it,very well. It is a residential program after all.
  16. yep, the plan checker was stating a preference rather than a code. or something that's required, they really should have known already.
  17. One of the many cities I deal with tried to tell me how to number my pages, I told them I will number them any way I want or go over their head to the city manager , they backed off. This was a new employee that didn't know any better.
  18. got a pic. do you mean wide flange?
  19. Are they using shear walls for earthquake yet in NZ?
  20. Simply go to the roof plan layerset and adjust your layers to what you want to show on that plan, then send to layout.
  21. all I'm saying is if a macro is possible and if Chief allows it ,(future feature) is faster. Possible for sure. Mic slam I see that Joe agrees
  22. Joe, aren't ridge heights right in the roof DBX, I see it. most of the time anyone can use that info. and work with that. You must admit a macro would be faster than manually done.
  23. Wendy if there is a macro in the plan it's already done as you draw the plan, how fast is that.
