Setting Stem Wall Height in Build Foundation dbx...?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
One little tip I do is instead of a slab floor in that crawl space I make the slab 1/16 inch thick and use a dirt material so it shows up in the sections. this makes it a lot easier to get your 18" min. in that underfloor area. Then in that room adjust the height to whatever you want . -
Do you find the measurements accurate?

Hope chief doesn't dump it anytime soon, I still have masonry fireplaces on almost every job around here.
-
can't we just use the cad block insertion point tool to set a new insertion point for a cad block for that ?

that MATERIAL HAS BEEN THERE FOR MANY VERSIONS NOW

Resources for California Residential
DRAWZILLA replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Thanks Rene, good stuff -
I actually like the use of room planner except for the fact that there is no consideration for measuring the site ,which occurs on every job. If they only somehow could make that work , even using just lines and text. My experience was also that it takes me much longer to do a measure of an as-built vs. paper and pen. I do like the transfer to Chief though so if it takes longer to measure I guess , less time spent at the layout stage once in Chief. Might be a tradeoff. I like to get in and out of there as quick as I can though.

X11 Expanded Object Properties Macro(s)
DRAWZILLA replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in Symbols and Content
thanks joe -
You could always just use a p-solid also. Sometimes the floor underside just doesn't show well in 3d views. It really needs a thickness in the DBX.

He really only needs the floor plan, I would share it with him, he is your guy, He is not in the design business he's in the HVAC business. Anyway anyone can steel your designs if they want to, and you may never know about it. Try not to think about someone stealing your designs until it happens, then you may try to do something about it, but until then think forward not backward. I have been copying home designs for 45 years, to remodel them (new and old plans). Never been a problem. All someone has to do is change a few things , then it's fair game.

Trusses Not Framing From Exterior to Exterior Wall
DRAWZILLA replied to misterwiley's topic in General Q & A
This issue has been around forever, I have turned it in many times, with no fix so I gave up. -
Joe goes out of town sometimes, I use some of his macro's but I don't think he had to update for X11.
-
did you add some, lights to the scene, and your video card is pretty old ,but ray-traces use mainly the CPU try a PBR instead.
-
search the lib, they are there now

I think the brick ledge is not working as it used to. I used to be able to get any surface ( brick or drywall ) to go lower than the floor level by adjusting the brick ledge level. Not anymore.
-
Looks good to me , should last a long time
-
did anyone try the new pattern/ texture sync button?
-
I would use a p-solid for that as a soffit is either sloping or flat. but not both
-
That should be fine, just check for update of the video card drivers
