  1. I'll take your word for it on your end, I just don't see a problem when printed on my end. What version of Adobe do you use?
  2. I just don't see any problems with your example there. Zoom in and see the difference, looks good to me.
  3. Yes ,I never use Chief's PDF b/c of the file size, I use Adobe Acrobat DC so I wouldn't know.
  4. Joe I'm turning blue and might die.. Any changes to your current macros with X11 ?
  5. I find that PDF's look light on the screen but print out ok.
  6. That could happen with any software developer.
  7. You can always create a electrical schedule where it would create a label for them that is easier to read.
  8. electrical, framing and foundation and whatever view you have will have their own reference sets per plan view sent to the layout. I have my template plan set that way so its automatic and of course already sent to my template layout.
  9. I didn't like plan views at first but now that I understand them, I love them.
  10. try adding some lights to the scene. it 's all about lighting. Even light sources will work and they don't show in the plan.
  11. A simple text macro might work for you, change the macro and all instances will change automatically..
  12. here in California we have had to do the energy thing since the 1070s and it gets more complicated every couple years. in 2020 every new home must have solar

  14. I find it hard to believe that Canada is more invasive than California., I really don't think so ,.but I have never drawn a job in Canada ,and if so I would never want to..
  15. Chief has a very nice building , has everything they need probably not cheap. But very nice., reminds me of silicon valley.
  16. stir up those cans of worms, we'll have lunch someday. I'll bet your worms are so much better than ours. Plan views rule for me.
  17. You could also just turn off rafters in that view and use soffits (sloping) for the rafters you want to show, any way this has sometimes been a problem for a long time.
  18. make sure your valleys are correct and re-frame just those intruding roof planes.
  19. with all the building height limitations here sometimes you have no choice but to use double gables with crickets.
  20. sometimes shear walls need to have a double bottom plate.
  21. runs fast on my system. It may depend on your video card and updated drivers or the whole system you have.
  22. Funny ,I still get discrepancies between using the p-line method and the finish schedule method, they are not the same. When I use the p-line square footage method and split the house to garage wall, ( and I always use both ) as a check it will come close to being equal. I use p-lines for site plans and property calculation's. I have never had them match exactly and have thought of removing the s.f. column from the finish schedule.
  23. I have done several of these in California and the answer is each city has their own set of rules and they all differ.. As for square footage all of the cities I work for use the exterior walls as a typical method of figuring out the square footage all around. you can use the finish schedule to automatically show square footage if you add that column in the schedule.--Be aware that chief splits the wall between the living area and the garage, everyone else doesn't..
