  1. Check where your main layer is set to for each type of wall. Brick, stud wall, concrete.
  2. Doors already have headers in plan view, you can turn those on and off it's the windows that don't show headers which is ok by me, but we all want header labels for both doors and windows to show on the framing plans. For beams, I show line weight of 100 for floor and ceiling beams and you can turn them on and off, headers should act like beams, separate layers for headers also, and not lump all headers in the same layer.
  3. Joe , I set up that macro and all I get is the ole eval. error. tried all the reference, owner and none, got a secret handshake.
  4. Joe's macro works like a charm ,only thing is I only want the header to show on the framing plans, without all the other junk automatically, b/c it's in the window and door label, right now you can't just show the header only, without using a text box with arrow.
  5. Generally, to me, it looks like where a conc. curb would go. Check your foundation. If no curb, check your floor height in the garage
  6. I have used Chief for 11+ years and very satisfied to continue on, just don't know if I have 17 years left. Wish I had started using Chief earlier than I did.
  7. Try the beta drivers that are newer, it fixes the problem. download direct from NVidea
  8. Rich, it proves you have way too much time on your hands, like the build a bike while you draw setup.
  9. I use the country section for lot# & tract#
  10. Video walkthroughs for clients just got much better Can't wait.
  11. Just ordered my new 3dconnecxion mouse, can't wait to get it this week. let you guys know how it goes. My videos should be like walkthrough's now.
  12. BTW, you can download the trial version for free and do it. Not sure about a Mac. version though.
  13. I used Squiggle for many years and still have version 6, but not on my computer at the moment, but when Chief came out with squiggly lines I don't use it anymore. I think I could install it and squiggle it for you if you send me a DWG file.
  14. No, after it frames just turn off automatic deck framing and move it. We have asked for Beam placement but haven't got it yet.
  15. Decks make a good tool for lattice top patio covers.
  16. try to re-start Chief, happens once and a while for me. I rarely use the p to p dim. tool and really only when lines are not parallel to each other.
  17. I find that I have to restart X8 more than other versions, for those little hick-up things that happen and the fix is only when a re-start happens.
  18. My layouts are always in color, what matters is that you use plot lines, and use a special layer-set with all the line-weights you want to use. like walls set them to 40 in that layerset and they will be thicker, also do it with windows doors, etc. Your elevations will pop. Using any other method will not get you the line-weights you need. Live doesn't use special layer-set line-weights, you can set. Print in grayscale to get no color and it prints good
  19. I keep all my details in my lib. You need to just put them in your layout template. Any layout can be saved as a template plan to use over and over again. I just open a template layout and install any detail on my detail page. Some here do it differently. My templates have everything you need to just start drawing. plan, foundations, sections, elevations,, details, all camera views, interior and exterior. They are all ready to go just by opening it.
  20. Yes, that's the idea behind it. Makes line-weights bigger and smaller to look constant at 1/4" scale or 1/8" scale. Chief recommends you just leave it checked all the time.
