Copy a close layer-set and rename it to something you will remember. I just use" reference set" after the name, so I know it's for reference sets only.

What methods would you use for this large Victorian mansard roof trim?

How do you show stucco pattern in elevation view
DRAWZILLA replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
But be careful, in remodeling when you have existing walls vs. new walls, if you add that pattern to the new walls, there will be a line between the two different walls in vector view in elevation because of two separate type stucco textures. All new const.--no problem. -
X8 is still a little quirky, in my opinion.

Window and Door label issue in Elevations.
DRAWZILLA replied to OkcDesigner's topic in General Q & A
Try to make your terrain deeper-thicker to hide the back labels -
For elevations,I use plot lines (no color), shadows turned on. For sections--no shadows. This way it prints in grayscale much better than color. color tends to print much darker and can hide things you want people to see. Live views can slow down your work speed, unless you have a top of the line computer. I set those to "On demand" only.

Poly Line Labels - Why Did Chief Bother to Add this Feature...?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Thanks Michael, I thought the macro was the whole thing. -
It really should be easier than that, I don't know anyone willing to mask each window and door. Nice thought though. right now I just show the whole label.

Sorry, I meant the representation of headers

Check where your main layer is set to for each type of wall. Brick, stud wall, concrete.

Doors already have headers in plan view, you can turn those on and off it's the windows that don't show headers which is ok by me, but we all want header labels for both doors and windows to show on the framing plans. For beams, I show line weight of 100 for floor and ceiling beams and you can turn them on and off, headers should act like beams, separate layers for headers also, and not lump all headers in the same layer.

Poly Line Labels - Why Did Chief Bother to Add this Feature...?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Joe , I set up that macro and all I get is the ole eval. error. tried all the reference, owner and none, got a secret handshake. -
Joe's macro works like a charm ,only thing is I only want the header to show on the framing plans, without all the other junk automatically, b/c it's in the window and door label, right now you can't just show the header only, without using a text box with arrow.

Greg is a good one isn't he.

Generally, to me, it looks like where a conc. curb would go. Check your foundation. If no curb, check your floor height in the garage

I have used Chief for 11+ years and very satisfied to continue on, just don't know if I have 17 years left. Wish I had started using Chief earlier than I did. -
