Ray trace still checkered screen after 10 minutes
DRAWZILLA replied to freshrooms's topic in General Q & A
The more CPU cores the better for ray tracing. -
I just draw them in, in section elevation view, it would be nice to have a tool, b/c I have them in just about every non-beam ridge condition.
-
I use this slab footing tool all the time and do not want it to default to invisible. It's good as is.

upcoming 2 day training classes in Idaho

Some of us are all trained out. been thru it all, done that.WE sometimes work on things that are outside the manual, secret handshakes. Great place to go though. -
Johnny You shouldn't mix raised floors and slab footings, if you need a slab floor in a raised floor situation, spec it in the room definition, or like Scott says outside the raised floor. Slab footings will not create a slab floor unless you make a room, close it.

Importing files with cabinets from Room Planner in to CA X8
DRAWZILLA replied to adventhomes's topic in General Q & A
The room planner app only imports into chief, walls, windows, and doors and the room planner generated dimensions if they are on. -

Lew, You just don't get it. -
with a 3' side yard setback, if so, you have 5' left, Not even a legal room size, plant a garden

Not having that problem at all. I thought I explained in another thread, you may need a new computer or video card. I'm pretty sure you upgraded to windows 10 and your old video card might not be good enough for that.

Sorry Vince, sue me and find out the truth, you will learn. I never copy anything. Purchase "right to modify", you have to be kidding. No one does that. Most of my projects, remodels, have no one alive to purchase from. There is also no way to find out who did the original and how to contact. I would never do that anyway b/c it my design now. -
Drawing complex Roof Flashing in 3D isometric view
DRAWZILLA replied to InsideSquare's topic in General Q & A
Don't waste your time and try for a 3d representation. Just handle it in a detail. It can be done but it could take you more time than you want. -
Never had a problem also.

No, he just builds better and I agree with him .He reviews every plan, if you only knew. It's good practice. He also teaches the classes at Cal State Long Beach. and checks the engineer tests for licensing for the State of California. Do you think I just go with what Chief gives me for framing, I don't think so. but I do like the double joists under all parallel walls
-
You are correct, it just my engineer for the last 20 years requires it. I would also hate to rely on plywood to hold up wall weight when it could be 20' tall

Is it a laptop, . The Ati Radeon is older tecnology. Is this an older laptop? Looks like your Radeon video card is older. but might not have what it takes to run Chief. Call tech. support Here is what I got from the web site about your video card The UVD 2 video engine is able to decode HD videos (H.264 and VC-1 in all stages, MPEG-2 only IDCT) and allows the fluent playback of HD videos (e.g. Blu-ray) with a relative low CPU utilization (called Avivo HD). The HD 3200 was the first onboard graphics card that allows the fluent playback of Blu-ray videos. The UVD 2 on the HD 4200 supports the decoding of two video stream and therefore got a full Blu-Ray support. The graphics core of the HD 4200 stems from the Mobility Radeon HD 3400 and is therefore DirectX 10.1 capable. Because of the missing graphics memory, the performance of the card is a bit lower than of the HD 3400. Theroretically, dedicated memory chips can be directly added to the chip, making it a dedicated graphics card. Because of pricing it is unclear if any manufacturer will add memory to the chip. Still older games like Doom 3 or Quake 4 should be barly playable. Compared to older onboad graphic chips (e.g., GMA X3100), the HD 4200 is much faster. Even the Centrino 2 graphics core (GMA 4500M HD) is noticeable slower than the HD 4200. Compared to the HD 3200 the performance should be similar Using Windows XP, the HD 3200 seems to have problems with current and older drivers, as there is no 2D accelleration. This leads to very slow interactions with windows and scrolling (especially with Firefox as reported in various discussion boards). More information on the topic can be found at Planet 3D Now (de) or the AMD forum. It is still unclear if the HD 4200 also suffers from this problem

Send to layout then export each page as a DWG. Too bad you can't export all the pages at once.

Copy the plan and strip it as needed
