  1. Marc, I'm not saying you just take a Design and run with it. you change it, And you and I know, we can do it. And yes my Attorney is one of the top Attorneys in California construction, also works for Architects. Big projects. I'm willing to listen to him rather than anyone here on this forum. He just says anything I do he could beat anyone if that occurred, He told me don't worry about it. He owes me anyway.
  2. Lew, nothing is unique anymore. I have talked to an Attorney about this. If you make some changes, doesn't that make it a different unique. What about room additions, I have done hundreds with only interior remodeling yet I have to draw the whole house over and over again, looks just like the original, with kitchen and bath remodels . No one has ever sued me over drawing it. I also invite them to spend thousands of dollars taking me to court only to lose the case, and also have to pay my Attorney's fees. So Lew, you are just Dreaming. You actually believe the scare tactic's going around.
  3. You can use that as a starting point then change some, and it will be ok. done it a thousand times
  4. Put the new page, in a different layout layer, in a layout template, and you can have many paper sizes already in your layout to use any time without re-doing it. Just open and turn on and off whatever size you need
  5. Not in Chief at this time. there are lots of separate programs to calc. shear
  6. That's why I got a 1TB SSD drive, not full yet but getting there.
  7. New computer time, with this type of software you will have to replace parts, or get a new one every 5 years or so, to be serious. I'm due.
  8. Just keep trying to download it. I find that sometimes I get error problems, and try again and it works, sometimes up to 3 or 4 times.
  9. Don't forget the most important clause for designers," you are not a licensed Architect" so there is no confusion later.
  10. Can't you delete the blocking and re-draw just the blocking after changing the defaults?
  11. I would just create a "shear detail" for that, as Chief has never gotten the blocking as it should be. Chief just locates it in the wrong location, you can move it, but don't until your ready to turn off auto framing. Angled or vertical can be used for shear nailing, or using "A35's' or "A34's" ,you just need the continuous connection.
  12. Apparently there is a new update coming out soon, maybe that will help.
  13. No, here you have to use the state's program (calres, it's free to download) or purchase one that is accepted by California. Chief's export does not work with any of those.
  14. think "floor material region" tool
  15. you can wrap text in the schedule's now in X8. For straight text just open a macro edit box and copy your text in there give it a name and save it. http://www.screencast.com/t/KV6kdcftHJ
  16. This will give you an idea how it works http://www.screencast.com/t/jnlkuc4xlIfP
  17. I'm not sure what the OP wants, I was talking notes in multiple instances. keynotes are different, and you just copy the callout and place it elsewhere if you want the same note. I have a short video saved if you are interested.
  18. I put notes that I use multiple instances of in a simple macro text box, so when I need to change the content of the note it change all the notes at the same time.
  19. Never tried it b/c we in Calif. have our own title 24 rules, so the export doesn't work for us. They say it works for Rescheck, who knows, maybe someone actually using it can chime in.
  20. Have you tried to export to Rescheck? remodeling is tough, you have a lot of set it up first.
  21. Scott, is it newer than we have been doing them for years now?
  22. Why do I see three lines then?
  23. Move or delete it. I have had that happen before. If you have it to" save in plan" you won't get this, but if you don't, and move or delete the original than the layout box will still be there--blank
  24. Do you have "generate attic walls" on? They are very easy to do manually also. Just go up to the attic level and draw them in.
