  1. Yes!!! The separate room with no roof over it was the solution I was looking for. I owe a big THANK YOU to Perry, Scott, Glenn and everyone else!
  2. Yep, ended up just manually deleting unwanted roof plans and extending down main roof plane. I guess I will just do this again when I auto build my roof over the covered deck. Still hoping someone has a more legitimate way of building these but I understand a lot of what is built with Chief is by "hacking" it manually. Thank you for your help rlackore and solver!
  3. rlackore - Sorry for not being clear, the bump-out is an exterior wall and part of the normal room like you suggest. The "deck" is what I will be building as an addition to the home once I have the "as built" plan finished.
  4. rlackore - Okay i see how this can work but once I start building the new covered deck then the unwanted roof plane will be built again.
  5. Chief is building a roof plane over the 1' boxout wall but I want the wall built under the main roofs soffit.
  6. Greetings! Just when I think i know what i am doing I learn I know very little at all. I am trying to build a 1' out x 9' wide exterior wall that is under the 1' eave of the roof. I don't want it to have a roof of its own. I have attached a picture of the wall i am trying to build. Can someone help me? When using the bay window tool there is an option to build under existing roof plane. I figure there would be something similar for this but haven't found it yet. I edited the three walls that make up the boxout and changed the roof overhang to 0" but when I build the roof it still builds then 12" as thats the default for the rest of the roof. This is a common architectural detail, I'm surprised it isn't easier. Thanks for looking, Charlie Casey & Jessica Keck Deck X7.plan
  7. Hello - I traced over a satellite image that was rotated. I figured I could rotate my plan later but when I tried I could only rotate what was on the building level I was viewing.ie 0, 1, 2. But not the entire plan. It hasn't been an issue until I tried to change the material of the concrete slab to a tile finish, now the tile is angled and not square with my angled patio. I have attached the plan for anyone's review. Its in X9. Radke Porch x9.plan
  8. Perfect!!! That macro was hiding there in my default KB layout. This is only the second layout I have made and it was really bothering me that the text was there but I remained calm and told myself "its you not chief, just relax and ask for help". Thank you Joey, Chopsaw & Joe!
  9. Hi everyone! This should be an easy one for you pro's out there. Please view the attached pdf image file. It is of an area of my layout sheet where I used the text tool to input the project description. For some reason Chief is displaying the my plan file name in this area and it is interrupting my text I entered. How do I turn this label off? HELP!!! Thank you all in advance! 10. Jerry You are right, we are in a frost zone so the walls would need to be another 36" deeper than the bottom of the stair well. I think it would also need a floor drain connected to a pump or the basement could flood during heavy rains. Thank you for pointing that out.
  11. Yep that worked! First I created the basement room with foundation walls. Next I lowered the room height to a little above grade. Then on 1st level plan view I selected to view other levels outlines and drew the new railing above the lower foundation walls. Thanks for setting me in the right direction Perry! 12. Perry, That solution sounds straight forward. To lower the top of the foundation walls close to grade should I just change the rooms ceiling height? Im going to go give it a try.
  13. I am trying to build a set of exterior stair from the basement. They have foundation walls on all sides with a slab under it. The basement will be a daylight with windows added later. To create the walls at half height I set the Pony wall setting with the upper wall as a "room divider". This looks correct in the 3d view but now i can't add a railing around the top of the foundation wall. I tried defining the top half of the pony wall as a railing but then the whole 3d image drops into the ground and doesn't look correct. Has anyone built these before?
