Distribution Paths are only available in plan view. Have you tried Cad>Boxes>Insulation?

It looks like we now cannot Revolve a Face (which has no thickness). I can Revolve a Face by first Extruding it a little to add some thickness. Maybe this is a result of changes to Solids that have been made over the last few releases. So it seems like at the moment we need to draw a Face, Extrude it a little (1mm) and then Revolve.

Edge of stucco wall shows framing rather than stucco.

Can you post a picture of your wall definition dbx? Is your stucco wall layer a main layer? If so, make it an exterior layer. -
Automatic Snap to Center of Intersection of Exterior and Interior Walls
glennw replied to dbkb0227's topic in General Q & A
Try using a Room Divider Wall in place of the blue line - you may have to move the room divider away from the corner a bit to get it to work. Then snap the end of the thicker wall to the room divider. You can then move the room divider left and right to drag the end of the thicker wall. Your wall definitions will make for a pretty crazy junction. You may then need to use the Edit Wall Layer Intersections tool to clean up. -
Demo walls cutting into floor finish in new layer set
glennw replied to gelbuilding's topic in General Q & A
Try making the walls invisible instead of turning the wall layer off. Normal walls cut through a floors Finish Layers so turning off the display layer the walls are on still leaves the floor finish cutouts. Invisible walls do not make the cutout in the floor finish layers. -
You can get something like this from the library.

Is anyone else still getting the disappearing toolbars and have you seen a solution? I have submitted a bug report and I am waiting to hear back.

room divider changes to interior-4 ...sometimes
glennw replied to SHCanada2's topic in General Q & A
Sorry, but videos without some sort of running commentary are too hard for me to follow - you have sound, why can't you use it to explain what is going on? The first thing that springs to mind is that when you step floor or ceiling levels Chief substitutes a wall with thickness so that there is wall between the change in floor/ceiling levels. ie, you cannot have a zero width wall defining a change in floor and ceiling levels. -
You can build the frame out as per your diagram.

You might also investigate the use of a Material List Polyline (draw it around the extents of the drawing) which has it's own default (or on a case by case basis) and in which you can select from a whole range of options and objects to include/exclude from the ML.
-
I am not sure I follow you 100%, but I think this is what you are talking about. You can specify a Layer Set that only reports objects on selected layers in the ML. There is already a Materials List Layer Set included that may get you going. This is from an existing ML: . And this is in the defaults:

HOW TO CREATE CUSTOM WALL OPENING IN CHIEF ARCHITECT
glennw replied to MIKE202020's topic in General Q & A
Have a look into "Inserts Into Wall" for a symbol (which you can hide). And then select the symbol and use "Edit Wall Cutout Polyline" from the Edit menu. You can drag the wall hole around and edit it to any shape. Its a little tricky to use the first time but once you know how, you can cut any shape you want. It works the same in X10. -
It's working Ok here. I am not sure what could be happening.

Try Export Thermal Envelope Data. Export to ResCheck seems to work for me, although I don't have ResCheck so I can't test it 100%

Chief calls this a Half-Hip Roof. This pic is auto roofs with a full gable wall and Upper Pitch checked. Then a couple of quick edits to the gutter polylines to get them as per your pic. Normally though, we would build these without the sloping gutters. It is easy to do either way. For the sloping gutters, select the roof by that edge and turn on Gutter On Selected Edge. For the flat gutter on the eave return, unlock the Roof, Gutters layer and in plan view drag another section of the gutter molding polyline along the eave return.

Notched (unwanted) Rafters in X14 Still- WHY?
glennw replied to Archnot-Boltz's topic in General Q & A
Another way: Temporarily make the rear existing slab foundation wall No Room Definition. Select the roof plane and on the Edit toolbar, select Build Framing For Selected Objects. Change the rear existing slab foundation wall back to a room definition wall. -

Terrain contour. Flat area that slopes in two directions.
glennw replied to dvogel1's topic in General Q & A
I got it directly from Chief many years ago, I think when they were first introducing terrains It is something I have always remembered -
Terrain contour. Flat area that slopes in two directions.
glennw replied to dvogel1's topic in General Q & A
It may help this process to remember that an Elevation Line is just a series of Elevation Points at about 24" centres. -
You could try using a terrain and then converting to a symbol. I think the sail will be fairly easy, but the frame is the difficult bit.

X-14 Trim and Gutter Glitches driving me crazy
glennw replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
Renee, As far as I can see, when you replace the gutter from the library, it disassociates the gutter molding polyline from the roof. It is then a molding polyline with no association or connection with the roof. You can easily edit or delete this unneeded gutter molding polyline and then auto generate a new one that is associated with, and attached to the roof. This new gutter will be the same one you used to replace the original gutter. I am not making any comments as to why I think it happens, if it should happen....etc, I am just relaying what I have observed.
