mtldesigns
My camera view placed into ChatGPT.. just playing. I told it to place in the mountains (because that is where it's being built in NC), make landscape more realistic, add snow on the second draft. You guys didn't know I invented a snow proof flag and pole, did ya! @para-CAD I've been meaning to get a second shed, thanks for the reminder.
Michael_Gia
1st image = Chief Standard view, all out of the box no PBR. Gemini (free, no account) Prompt = "Increase photorealism of this image. Improve lighting, global illumination, reflections, shadows, and material texture resolution. Preserve the exact architecture, materials, proportions, windows, doors, and camera perspective. Do not modify the design in any way—only enhance realism and render quality. " Chat GPT = make above rendering a winter scene but do not alter architecture or materials. 2
para-CAD
I had some success with Grok, initially, but now it cranks out completely blurry images like I'm showing a home from Witness Protection. Edited 22 hours ago by para-CAD
mtldesigns
A client emailed me and wondered what direction I was running with his house, since the ROW and easements were ridiculous on a small city street. The model is a WIP, but I did a quick camera view, and a screen grab at street level, and had ChatGPT merge the two, and remove trees. First pass was enough to convey the direction.
winterdd
Well I've used chat gpt to change exterior wall materials and colors and it seemed to work fine. I even deleted a curved stairwell in one of my plan files and asked AI to make a better curved staircase and it worked nicely. Today I put it to the test and I wouldn't say it is to scale but it did a great job when I told it to merge these two screen shots of the floor plan my client wants. I searched everywhere but failed to find the web link. AI couldn't even find it with all the info put in.
ComputerMaster86
Here is a project I am involved in currently. It's in very early development but, I wondered tonight what Google Gemini / Nano Banana would output based on my original image. Nothing special. A.I. Prompt Turn this rendered image into a photo realistic rendering. Do not change the structure. Keep integrity and colors of the original structure. Siding is suppose to be board and batten. Add a gravel driveway going up to the garage doors. Add some landscaping and make it a late afternoon sunny scene. Michael_Gia
10 hours ago, ComputerMaster86 said: Nothing special. I disagree. If I were a client and looking at your Chief standard render I would not want to live in that and I would already be starting to think that maybe I chose the wrong draftsman/designer/architect. With Gemini render, I personally would love to live in that myself. I can see myself smoking a cigar on the front porch and enjoying the scenery. What you did in, I'm guessing 20 seconds in Gemini?... Would not be possible in Chief and even with the help of TwinMotion would take hours and hours and never come close. Nice job! 1

I tried doing that last pic a few years and it looked pretty good. I took a google maps screenshot of the lot and use it as a backdrop in CA. You know, before AI was coming out. Michael_Gia
For a different approach, I used Gemini images, and only gave it the elevation and the 3 swatches of material. It had to figure out where to apply those materials and create it's own seamless textures from the swatches. Quite impressive.... PROMPT: "Using the elevation can you make a realistic rendering but do not change the architecture and use the attached material textures. The first one is the brick pattern. The second one is the stone pattern and the third one it the siding material. Window frames and trim are commercial brown." Here is the result... Michael_Gia
I have a free Gemini account. After creating the account, I told it a few things about myself. What I do and what software I use etc., nothing personal. I think this is an important part of using AI
JonathanK
I've been strictly using Gemini. I've gone through a few prompts, but to me this is like handing out your Chief Architect template with all your settings ready to rip. I have found that if I treat Gemini as a rendering engine, I have far better results and far more realistic pictures. So I will upload a technical illustration of a drawing, and my prompt tells Gemini to ask me what to use for siding, stone, background, etc... The biggest hangup is driveways and parking lots. Even with specifying where they go, AI lacks context, so it gets a little weird at times.
para-CAD
I hope chief abandons it's in app photo-realistic rendering approach and partners with a good AI service (included in our subscription). And the cloud idea.........I am not inclined to drop Dropbox, or pay more for a CA cloud service. Chief should integrate with Dropbox. They don't need to expand outside their true focus...CAD software and not try to be a jack-of-all-trades. Edited April 28 by para-CAD 2
DeLayDesign
Great topic! I have tried this in the past but grew annoyed with it because ChatGPT would always change the actual home. Mainly changing size and location of windows and doors, but occassionaly changing the roof lines. I'll have to give it another try and see how it's grown. Rich_Winsor
I've only been using ChatGPT for about a week but I have had good success at modifying specific objects. Here is an interesting example. I wasn't particularly enamored of the look of the young lady but she was in the pose I wanted. Original Chief PBR image Prompt: photo realistic image showing sky between trees. Prompt: Change only the young lady with the flags to a cute blonde wearing an I (heart icon) racing t-shirt. What do ya think of Chat's choice? Calls to mind the old idiom "I wouldn't kick her/him out of bed for eating crackers" Edited April 29 by Rich_Winsor
