    I just used solids.  Pull an elevation and draw a solid at the correct height and pitch.

    Then pull another cross section running perpendicular to your solid and edit the "end" to be angled as well.

    Solids are pretty intuitive with these latest versions of Chief.  They used to be a serious life-suck...

    Try this in a test plan:
    DBL Click your Story Pole Dimension > Click on Extensions/Markers > Under Marker Style, click on "Define" (in the bottom right).

    From there in the Marker tab under "Label" you should have a "Text Below Line" option.  There is a selection that says "Match Text Above".  Uncheck that, and set it to something different.  Click on "Define".
     
    Edit that text style to have a character height of 0".

    Does that get you what you want?
     
    If so, I would create a new text style called "No Show" or something like that.  Make it have the text height of 0" and use that for anything that you might want to "hide".  Either that...or make the font color white.

    Just my thoughts.

    Could it be in the Deck Railing Specification > Newels/Balusters Tab you have "Draw Rails" checked?
     
    If you uncheck it, it shows a double line.

    Just above where it says "In from Baseline".  It says "Upper Pitch".  That should match the same pitch as your house.

    I would do it as option 3 that you list above.  I would do this as a room with the wall having the correct definition of siding on both sides, etc...
     
    Then I would use a passthrough opening to get my openings correct, and put the craftsman posts in the corners as needed.
     
    A wee bit of cleanup on the siding where the porch and house meets, and you're good.

    If it's your template file that you're wanting to clean up, open up your template file, and then go to File>Save as Template.  There is a dialog box that pops up that allows you to select everything you want to keep or remove.  Part of that selection is to unlink all reference files.  Then just save it as the same name, or rename it something else if you're not wanting to overwrite your old for some reason.

    Not sure if that's what you're looking for or not.
