Making Projects More Photo Realistic?
joey_martin replied to buildinthevoid's topic in General Q & A
I have been playing with Twinmotion recently. These are Chief models exported in 3DS format. I have spent just a few hours with TM and this is what I have come up with. -
Set the header and trimmer information in the opening dbx.

I know this won't help much, but here the building department would like to see (2) 1/2" Type X Gypsum, which with a 2"x10" and 3/4" T&G sub-floor actually gives 2 hours.....but....anyway. The thing our inspectors look for more than the (2) 1/2" layers is the penetrations. Sloppy gaps in light fixtures and floor penetrations from plumbing above get dinged with me more than my details. Fire caulk is MUST, and proper application. I am sure out there that aspect would be the same. Hope that helps you.

Viki Wooster is in Bend as well and is a Chief user @vikiw_bend

Do you have your dimension defaults set up to find them? ICF walls, which I don't use often, are probably considered concrete walls and as such you will need to make sure that check box is checked to show that extra opening in the plan view as well.
-
Admittedly I know nothing about Saved Plan Views as I don't use them, but everything can be done with Layer/Anno (now Default Sets). If you do a lot of basements you are going to need to set up your template to keep everything seperated. You will need layers for each view ie...Text, Foundation - Text, Floor Plan - Text, Framing - Text, Electrical...etc..

I just painted a trim piece on the exterior. Would never paint a wall, but I added some molding to the exterior of a model and painted it to match the other trim.

Pictures...thousand words.....

Drainage planes and direction.

Open the Auto Dimension tool and check the box for refresh. Once an auto dim is deleted, it turns the tool off, this will turn it back on.
-
That box only changes the way numbers are displayed in the dialog box you are looking at, not the numbers in the plan itself.

The bane of my existence....

I don't mean this to sound harsh, but you are doing something wrong. I have never, and I have been with Chief for a long time, not had my post footing display where they should. I could ask a million questions to try and help you, but....I draw my decks on level 1 and the footings are on level 0. I do nothing further than what I just described.

FYI...I just loaded a RT image and it works. I got a little sloppy with the surface chooser, but it works.

Can you upload a rendering and let B-M do the rest? https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/personal-color-viewer

I always catch grief when I answer these types of questions. I have been using CA since v9.5, 16--17 years I think. I have never owned/purchased anything other than off-the-shelf HP computers from either Fry's or Best Buy. I don't do a ton of rendering, but I do provide some...S O M E...very light rendering from time to time, and have never had an issue. My current HP is this... and I added a GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics card. I don't think I have ever spent over $1K, on a system.

Is it possible to map/differentiate various electrical circuits?
joey_martin replied to nematode's topic in General Q & A
Try changing the color of the layer CAD, DEFAULT to red and see if that gives you what you want. -
Check the layer for ROOMS. That layer needs to be on for those patterns to show.
-
Are you rebuilding the roof after making those changes?
-
Mine are controlled by the default label text style

You are correct Ken..all the workarounds are more work than simply making sure your beam height is correct by default to account for the plate. I simply wait until time to work on framing plans and copy a sill plate...since all the relevant heights and widths are correct...and just paste them as needed and size.

You plan file and layout file don't match. They both have to be set at the same...1:100mm..

2 Story Detail Framed wall Cross Section
joey_martin replied to Bill_Nelson's topic in General Q & A
Is this something someone is specifically asking for? I've been doing this a long time, and never seen a detail like that. -
Changing material properties on one wall changes a number of walls
joey_martin replied to robdwelle's topic in General Q & A
You need to make a copy of the wall you want a different material on. -

Cross section camera, label, send to layout, crop to size.
