  1. Is this something someone is specifically asking for? I've been doing this a long time, and never seen a detail like that.
  2. You need to make a copy of the wall you want a different material on.
  3. Cross section camera, label, send to layout, crop to size.
  4. When you set up the foundation there is a call out for how far you want your slab from the top of the stem wall. I bet yours is set at 8. Around here, we call it a gas curb, or garage curb, etc...
  5. Select a roof plane, use TRANSFORM/REPLICATE tool, and raise the roof plane.
  6. No. But I did notice that your plan view is set up for 18"x24" paper and the layout is 11"x17"
  7. It's because you have some text boxes out in space and Chief is telling you they won't fit. Move them in plan view or simply crop them down. If you turn those text boxes off in plan view and re-send the plan, you won't get those warnings.
  8. WALLS>DECK RAILS layer, or WALLS>RAILINGS...depends on what you used.
  9. True, but you can still add them to each elevation at the corner and get the look you are after.
  10. I keep a dashed door, made from CAD lines, in my library to use for cases like this. For a "future" door...just use a doorway and drop this from the library into the opening.
  11. Is the distance between set to 0 or the standard 2" OOB?
  12. This particular builder does build those. He uses that extra space as chase and wants what ever he puts in there separated from the insert. The note (8) states to install per mfg instructions for clearance, so the inset what probably me bumping it into the wall opening, it should be flush.
  13. Make them normal walls rather than foundation walls and see if that gives you what you want. You can still specify that they are bearing, and contain footings, but I think the problem is they are FOUNDATION walls and not NORMAL walls
  14. You need to place a wall to cover the bumpout, then use a doorway to create the opening for the insert to slide into...exactly like it will be constructed in the field. You can spec the header and trimmers, just suppress the casing and jamb.
  15. Floor "0" is the basement/foundation. Easy peasy, and use Anno/Layer Sets (or the new saved plan view sets) to provide a foundation plan and finished basement plan all in the same model. These are all LIVE section view and wall details exactly as the model is built..they are live camera views.
  16. I use a Google Spreadsheet. Easy, and it's my own creation so I don't have to try and figure out what info it's spitting out.
  17. I didn't. If your layers are set up to be "default" simply change the background color and the default black lines turn white automatically. It's the line that you have set to black per line that will not be visible. I only use black backgrounds.
  18. I will admit, I don't fully understand how the exterior material default works, for the same reasons as you have stated...I have changed it, nothing happens or even worse something happens that I wasn't expecting, so yes..if you want to safely, and without hiccups change from a lap siding to a board & batten you need to have those walls set up and saved. As for interior colors I rarely change those unless I have been asked to be a part of the interior design and rendering portion, but I would add a 1/8" color layer to the interior wall.
  19. Don't copy the layer, copy the plan. Hit SAVE AS and make a new copy of the plan you are working on. Now you can change and experiment and the original plan file is unchanged. But yes, you can also simply copy and paste. Open the new plan, select the cad block, hold CTRL C go to the new plan and hold CTRL ALT V. Make the CAD layer a block first.
  20. Just like it's going to be built. Build your wall type and go.
  21. Try making the sub facia a 2"x8" and see what happens.
