  1. The solution is to properly specify the framing. In my 20+ years of using Chief I have never encountered this problem.
  2. Are adding text OVER the dim line or using the text options within the dimension dialog box?
  3. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/3d-viewer/
  4. What are your framing preferences set up as? Looks to me like your rafter framing as specified is larger then your fascia and sub-fascia specification. You need to set those ahead of time to get the right results the first time.
  5. You must have deleted the "Attic Walls" which is the best way to do those. I have an attic wall created that is 1.5" thick with no material and framing unchecked so that the sheathing, housewrap, and siding are all there, but the truss fits in and replaced the "wall framing". Add that "attic wall" back in and all the other factors you mentioned take care of themselves.
  6. The general framing tool allows for making those members metal. Either "C" channels or steel boxes just like what is shown in the OP pic.
  7. Or simply use the GENERAL FRAMING tool to have even more/better control of the size and placement.
  8. Lots of invisible walls to form the rooms and solids and symbols.
  9. However....architecturally the shutters should match the width of the windows. Small shutters on large windows = no no.
  10. Sounds like a print driver issue not a Chief issue. My Epson Sc-2100 had that happen after a Microsoft update.
  11. Sounds like you need to do a few Kitchen Elevations with notes. Use the WALL ELEVATION camera and make your notes.
  12. Make sure the line weights are turned on in layout.
  13. My guess, that is a "deck" and you disconnected a wall to make a change or some sort of design move. When you do that all the decking and framing will disappear unless you check the box that tells Chief to "keep framing". Older versions were not as bad at simply dropping all your framing if you moved a wall, X16 is. Still gets me everything I have a deck or balcony. Hit the REBUILD framing button and it will come back, but be warned, the beams and posts will be different if you had moved those during your design process. Be prepared to redo all that custom framing work.
  14. You will probably need to ZIP up the plan file and let one of have a look at it. Really no way to tell from this pic. Ensure you save the plan file and close out of Chief before ZIPPING the plan file, or it won't work.
  15. Draw them manually, use the back-clipped back section camera and cut the details from your model, download the details library, bring CAD details into a CAD Detail and adjust. Many ways to do it.
  16. While in Elevation camera view I draw a small strip, then open that strip to modify. Most important to me, is to uncheck the box that cuts the existing siding so that the batten sets on top of the siding. Size and shape accordingly.
  17. Also, name it in saved plan view and use a macro label with a tag to name the view.
  18. Change the label to whatever you want. Single click on the view while in layout, go to the label tab, and use the custom label to name it what you like.
  19. I have completed multiple projects, new home and remodels with X16. All is good.
  20. Was taught that in Arch school in the 80's and have always done it that way. Sometimes I put 2 different corner to corner, but always at least 1.
  21. The walk-out basement wall is the bearing wall. Simply show it. You're overthinking it. I have SPVs for foundation and for floor plan, but on a walk-out that framed wall would show on both and I use a layer for CAD, Foundations to trace the lower "stem wall" and show it on the foundation plan only. These are accomplished with saved plan view and layer/default sets with those views.
