Are the proper layers turned on for that camera view?

While I hope I can feed it sketches or original plans from homeowners to handle our As-Built initial plans, I can't wrap my head around having it simply design my plans. That takes it a step too far. While doing some digging around with it, it is going to speed up our take-off process, and probably ensure more accurate takeoffs, especially for trim, but no "designing" for me.

Honest, but somewhat unpopular answer here. I have been using Chief for over 20 years and about every 5 years or so I will pick up an off the shelf HP, or like this last time I was with my wife in Sams Club and came across this machine... Works great for Chief. Never any issues and does everything I need it to do. While others were spending $3K on custom machines, I spent half and went to Florida and sat on the beach with the other half.

All the framing is built as you model the structure. Ensure that you have set all the defaults to the proper size components.

Any plan or layout file not associated with a project is "un-managed". If you are just moving to PM mode, you should watch this video. It will change the way Chief works. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10299/x17-file-project-management.html

You will need to import that un-managed plan into a project, it doesn't become a project automatically.

No workaround needed. You need to set up your template to be in charge of what you are seeing on the page(s).

In the foundation defaults

I believe this area controls what you see for the railing walls both in plan view and in the schedule view.

Are you using a plan created by someone else? That looks like a labeled section. If you didn't create it, it shouldn't be there. Or I am missing something B I G in the software that auto labels wall sections.

After the latest Windows update I have the same problem with multiple machines here in the office. Went the the nVidia control panel and updated the graphics driver and that fixed the issue.

I updated the nVidia app, which led me to update the drivers. All good now on all machines.

3 of machines in the office will now seemingly not run Chief. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Started with this last round of windows updates.

Just turn project management off and use the system that has worked for 20 years. EDIT: I don't say that to be flippant. I have 4 interior designers and they each have a design coordinator, so I think we have 10 seats and I have tried to implement PM since it first came out and it just simply isn't better then the system we currently have in place. Rene will say otherwise, but I can say with 100% confidence that we have tried it, and using Shaperpoint as our PM method simply works better for us.

I think.....T H I N K...this process is easier now then it used to be by using an elevation offset, but I want my main level sub-floor to be 0'-0" regardless of which "level" it is on in Chief.

We have those set to show, but they randomly disappear then reappear with no real rhyme or reason.

Report it. It's a bug. We have 8 licenses in the the office and we are all having this issue after the latest update. Our cabinet fills are also all messed up now in our template.

Probably your last. Basements are on level 0 along with all the foundations. Many have tried over the years to convince me otherwise, but no go for me.

Don't export the layout page, just directly from the plan view. Sometimes I turn off my notes, but I generally just export what's on my screen and he can turn off/delete what he or she doesn't need.

If not on X18 then I like to use a material region. You create a batten and then multi copy it down the length of the wall. It will cut itself around openings and gables. It's pretty easy to do. You can also add a "framing" layer to the exterior and have it "frame" the battens, though I didn't have good luck with that method.

No. In the framing tools there is a tool to create just general framing members. I use it all the time to create 3/4" deck fascia boards.
