  1. Just cut the roof back and use a round dormer roof to connect it all.
  2. I use the material region tool. Takes more time, but looks better.
  3. I am working on a current project with a ZIP system. This is how I set it up. Keep in mind that, I know the actual ZIP green layer isn't 1/16" thick, it's part of the ZIP system as a whole, but should the homeowner change their mind, I don't have to do a bunch of messing with wall layers since the materials list is going to count the OSB, and the ZIP layer for me to use.
  4. Place a beam in the wall and adjust the wall framing to carry the load. Just like you would build it.
  5. Turn off the behavior, or make the outside walls touch.
  6. Put a roof on it, not a ceiling plane.
  7. Not sure what you mean. The conditioned schedule includes all the "living spaces" and the unconditioned schedule includes spaces like garages, unfinished basement storage, etc..
  8. Use the CUSTOM SCHEDULE tool. Create one for the conditioned spaces and one for the unconditioned spaces. Save them in a CAD detail in your template plan and you only have to do it once and will calculate those for you automatically from then on.
  9. Rotate the site, not the house. Save yourself a series of headaches.
  10. Or simply take an elevation view and make the front wall 4'
  11. That will work for the versions you have listed, but for X13 it will not be enough. If you are going to upgrade at some point, this PC will be tough to make work.
  12. I think it's because my local guys all use the same local lumber yard and he doesn't trust anyone or anything but himself.
  13. My builders use the ML all the time, especially for roofing, siding, flooring and trim, paint, drywall..... The framing can be tricky, but the local lumber yard they use will do that take off for ordering anyway, everything else they order from the list and add a % for waste. It is very accurate, as long as your model is accurate.
  14. That one looks like the focal blur is checked, uncheck that.
  15. Did you export from layout or plan view? I have never had an issue when exporting from plan view.
  16. Don't convert from layout, convert from plan view. See if that fixes the issue.
  17. What's not working? We would use the same software you are using. It's a pretty simple export from Chief.
  18. Know your stuff, pay your premiums. As an AIBD member I have access to insurance companies that will provide E&O insurance to qualified designers and architects at good rates. https://aibd.org/aibd_liability-insurance/
  19. Is it an "Island Room" Chief will connect to an exterior wall if you don't. You can turn this behavior off here..
  20. You need to adjust those manually. They are not parametric, they are simply CAD lines and text boxes.
