Sometimes I think like a Contractor, not like CA wants/needs me too , Monoslabs don't have walls in my World , so this is definitely one to remember, though we aren't allowed Monoslabs here , not even on garages. M.

Are you using different Resolutions on the monitors ? if so , I would guess the Videocard can't handle that at the larger resolution on the middle monitor ( perhaps not enough video Ram) as that doesn't look like Z-fighting to me , rather the texture isn't being produced , there have been other posts on this I think. here is Chief's KB article on Z-fighting you could check that though http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00107/

Mark, "I just moved the insertion point on the cad block- doesn't solve it but makes it easier to move to the cabinet" That was the trick I needed when I made the two outlets earlier in the thread I guess , I will have to read up on it as I was not aware of that possibility. My symbols work just like Joe's , they need manual placement / alignment , I have not tried Reflecting them.

I tried what P said too Joey but I think cos its a monoslab , it wont let you select just the raised portion by the look, like you can with a normal stemwall footing ,though I'm no expert on Mono Slabs.

I think you are Right Dennis , you have to do this in and Elevation view Mike if it's not clear in Dennis Instructions above. You will likely need to do some cleanup of wall ends etc by applying Solids or Soffits though.

Thanks Joe ... just curious Why your Horizontal outlet needs to be 4 1/8 depth ? though it doesn't show that way in 3D Both your Y axis's should be 4 7/16" BTW to get them to touch the cabinet.

see above Tommy , for me the horizontal was 1 1/2" off too.

I have no idea why the Cabinet Outlets don't automagically find the Cabinets , you'd think a no-brainer but that is on CA's end , that is not something I can fix , maybe they can ? maybe they can't ? and that 's why they are the way they are ? Still ,the Modeller got Lazy and should of done what I did so they would of at least worked properly in there Current Form. @ Mark ...I like that line too

Have another try, they work fine for me , I think golfing holidays are making you lazy , you haven't rotated any of them properly or aligned the cad block tails to the cabinet side , if you haven't noticed ? I don't think there is any CA Title that can turn a PDF into a 3D Model , but you can download a free trial of whatever Title you are considering and try drawing it up yourself . good to hear ( or not) I thought it was just me , the Structure DBX was designed to drive most crazy I think....

I am in X7 , but I notice in DJP's vid that the symbols reacted differently than in his , once I changed them to wall mount . Yes I did after changing them both to wall option, they were both off by half their height as mentioned , but I now suspect I am doing something in a different Order than you , or my initial placement is different perhaps? While double checking just now , more weirdness, all 4 outlets marked Wall Option "leaped" to the closest Wall when I changed views, think I'll stick to the ones I altered they aren't Crazy , they are still where I placed them ....

Couple of things might help.... in your 1/4 Dimension defaults set the Auto Dim line separation to say 24" or 30 " (default is 18" I think ) and in the Auto Elevation defaults Uncheck everything on the Locate tab for a bar bones look , then add back as needed. Not sure why your stairs are picked up mine aren't in the quick test plan I did........ oh I had to use a multi select (with the shift Key) after clicking on MANUAL dimension on the dim.toolbar and delete them that way . Cabinets only on

and make sure you change the X,Y,Z, origins to 0" for each or they don't set to the height to center set in the Objects DBX. at least I had to do this as they set at 1 1/2" high and 2 1/2" high for the Vertical one. ( ie height is really set to Bottom of object) , when you click on them in elevation views you see the bounding box is in the wrong place which is what alerted me to this. Not sure if I have the Latest Catalogue items though? (MEP got a update a while back but nothing tonight , just checked)

I found the same things as you Mark while messing with / altering the CA ones but after some more messing around I have these two ( Below) you can try. In plan view you can place them with the "Legs" of the CAD Block touching the cabinet line and they should look right in 3D. Chief automatically alters the smoothing on symbols when resaving them for some reason? so these are about 45° while the CA Duplex outlet is about 79° , you can alter that on the symbols 3D Tab but I don't mind them like this , little more definition. DJP 's finding makes sense of what I found with the CA symbols Scott , So maybe you do owe him lunch ..... you had placed them using the CAD Block , with the "legs" just touching the cabinet side, not with the selection handle aligned/centred with the cabinet side, so opening the symbol and setting it back the thickness off the wall as I (unknowingly) did , ie about 4 " made them look right in 3D too, but switch them to Wall Mounted per DJP and then make sure the selection handle is centred on the cabinet side. seems to correct it, setting them to Wall mount means they reference a wall however , though I don't' know if that is an issue ? the symbols also need their X.Y or Z axis's modified too, to get them to placed at the height to centred set in the Object's DBX accurately, see my plan below for those notes if wanted. here is the plan , I made some notes on the saved elevation BBB SCOTTS CABINET ELEC OUTLET CHALLENGE 1_Mick.plan *** I see Mark has discovered a Wall Referenced issue above

Both Symbols Y Offset needs to be adjusted 4 5/16 for the horizontal and 4 1/8 for the Vertical , both are set at - 1/8" ? , I'm not sure why they sit on the floor either . when the Modeller could easily have fixed that I believe..

So only shear walls ? , here they are usually 3/4 ply , but ALL exterior walls here get 1/2 ply (or OSB if going cheap) M.
