Nothing wrong with Learning Manual Roof Planes or even Manual Dormers , all good to know as it will be required at some point , but with a straight Gable Roof Auto is a Time saver, I still let Auto do it's thing 1st and then make changes as/if needed. Auto Dormers aren't good in all situations but they usually work fair well at eliminating the Issues you saw. M.

On a simple Roof like this one it really shouldn't be needed at all, this is easy for and Auto Roof Build , and you could also use Auto Floating Dormers too..... M.

Not good , likely the Seal has gone , so the panel needs replacing...

You need the Library provide by Chief or is that what you meant? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/991 or a library found here provide by DMD Designs .... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18903-free-glass-panel-door-door-system/?tab=comments#comment-155651

If you are having issues , it is always best to post the.plan file if you can ( make sure not open in Chief 1st) , also it is best to use the Snipping Tool in Accessories or some other Screen Capture program so the Pics are clearer.....Phone pics never seem to look good ...but I think the camera lens may need a clean too in this case. This is not uncommon with steep pitched Roofs in particular ....... sometime the Wall Polyline will do it other times not....

Ahhhh...I guess I did Migrate that Folder Forward then..... I don't think there are MAC specific versions perse but I am also not sure if I can post them Publicly or not? Did TS say anything about that? -
The Winders setting in the Staircase DBX may help but the easiest way is usually with a series of landings shaped as needed and set to the correct heights manually.

Every Version I have has them ...unless they were migrated forward as I upgraded? ***It's possible CA Templates is a Folder I made myself ??? and moved the Style templates too it , so the main Folder wasn't as cluttered but in X9 they are also backed up in the C:\Programs\xxx\xxx\xxx Folder -

MAC Os maybe slightly different ?, I am not sure what CE is either, my default Templates are in the Data/Templates Folder and the Style Templates are in the Data/CA Templates Folder. [solved] -

Keeping Stair Sections From Merging Into A Single Section
Kbird1 replied to EconBlueprints's topic in General Q & A
there are multiple threads on this exact situation , but the best way is to overlap two staircases by one riser/tread so they don't join together.....(one upto the wall , one between the walls) ie set the bottom height of the second set to the same height as the second to last tread of the 1st set ( top height minus one Riser Height) M. -
As Glen said it is not too hard to set this Up for Auto Roofs to work ...I did notice some of your roof plane joins don't line up with the Upper Roof Planes by a little, but, 1.) missing Caps are the No1 indicator that the Roof Planes are not Joined properly......use the Toolbar Join Tool for that , you need to go around and do it to ALL the Roof Planes, including the two gable sections to the main house Roof. I normally change the Ridge Cap Default Material to the same as the Roofing Material ( Plan Defaults>Materials) but with Metal Roofing I'd at least use the same Colour. *** Valleys DON'T show that is mainly used for Materials List info only. 2.) Looks ok to me, assuming that is the look you want?, though you could match the fascia heights I think ( use longer overhang or widen that deck/roof) 3.) Auto Roofs/AutoFraming is Off so you MUST rebuild the Framing Manually to see it , using the Edit All Roof Planes Tool is one way, see below. ( make sure framing is displayed in the View used too) 1. 2. 3.

What is GBI ? I only looked to see what GBI was What you see at Print and at Raytrace on screen can easily be 2 different things especially if your Monitor is not Colour Calibrated. Don't forget to try PBR View too for much quicker Rendering Times... M. -

Haven't heard of them used that way but no reason not too , just don't overwrite the Defaults in your main Client Plan , make a "Save As" Plan and use it so you don't lose YOUR defaults. M. -
You can use the Free Version 8 Viewer to "convert" the Files I am surprised this didn't come up in a Search either here or on the KB.... Check the GREEN text box and the link in it , in this KB Article https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00279/opening-legacy-files.html Not sure if SSA is needed though ?

***Updated*** These files are not included in X10 but are in this POST These are the Style Templates and used By the Home Designer Products mainly as a starting Point..... They are in the Chief Data Folder >Templates>CA Templates ........................................ however I am on Windows...... >Documents\Chief Architect Premier X10 Data\Templates\CA Templates The Commercial, Residential and NKBA are the Standard Default Templates in >Documents\Chief Architect Premier X10 Data\Templates The Default Templates ( not Style templates) usually are also backed up at : Your Installation Folder\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X10 (64 bit)\Templates M. -
Resources for additional materials & patterns ?
Kbird1 replied to ShowmeCHIEF's topic in Symbols and Content
In Paint or Paint 3D, Gimp etc , use a background with the grout colour applied and then copy/paste 8-12-20 copies of the pic above as needed, with a thin line between them (grout), rotating them in different directions and vertically/horizontally and then make a new material (reset the textures size appropriately) so the repeat isn't as noticable and the image size is set to real life sizes depending on number of tiles used above.... What you need to look for online are Seamless Textures , so the repeats are not noticeable...getting a Pattern will be harder especially for that tile but search here for Arabesque and I think you'll find one or two... www.cadhatch.com is one place that has a free Pattern genrator ( excel file) and free patterns and seamless textures. I think if you Search you will find some Mark made previously and posted either here or in the Symbols Forum. M.

see 1&2 above...plus..... 1.a) you don't need the Flat under eave setting either ....soffit is likely 3/4" thick.. 2.a) Sub fascia is nearly always 1 size smaller that the Fascia otherwise you can get gaps ie if fascia is 2x12 subfascia will be 2x10 (or 2x8) to allow room for the soffit material. b.) Eave fascia is often one size smaller than the Gable fascia, not sure of your design here though 3.) Shadow-boards are generally only used on the Gable ends ( otherwise they can interfere with the Gutter on the Eave.) 4.) Personally I use 1 1/2" Fascia on all builds as it warps etc less in the Weather in my experience. 5.) the workshop walls are setup incorrectly , you have an 8" ICF wall sitting on a Framed Brick clad wall......no idea what is correct though... this maybe the issue with the frieze not building correctly? the ICF wall also has siding on it which you painted with Stucco , always best to Make a new Wall type by copying the closed one in the DBX than Painting exterior Walls. ( *** just found you do have an ICF-Stone Wall and it works fine below the ICF Wall) 6.) you may have found a bug in that it appears the Frieze dose not want to build over.across the Concrete layer of the ICF wall Type...if I change the Walls to 8" CMU or Concrete the Frieze builds properly. A quick play with the Wall intersection tool didn't help but YMMV. 7.) Not sure why you have given your whole (back)yard a Room definition but it has a monolithic Slab under it ( maybe cause by the fence/wall definition you are using....) There is a number of weird goings on , I had a bit of a play , file is below for you to play with more... Mick. Workshop_Help_MHD.plan

Reversed walls could be it ( ie drawn inside out) but that is harder to do in X10 as it should auto switch (reverse) them..... could be a messed up Setting in the 1st Floor Wall definition, check the Wall Types DBX, in the wall settings area ie Foundation to exterior layer of:
