  1. from the distant memory I recall with v9.5 you could get obscure glass in windows but not doors, for some strange reason even if you used the exact same material.
  2. change the thickness of roof in roof DBX rafters, sheathing, finish to achieve what you want
  3. Decimals work fine in angular dimensions but it would be nice to be able to change the number of decimal places as most builders can only work to plus/minus 1 degree. I would like to be able to specify and angle to 1 decimal place 12.6 ° not 12.5978°
  4. I have it on ALL wall types even a couple of CA default ones that I still have but dont use. It appears to be the norm for metric plans
  5. The last internal layer being blank is what I have most of the time. Maybe Joe has something that there is a difference with metric plans??
  6. The only reason to print to PDF if for a record of what is printed, I only do this once at each time I issue a set of drawings. It means printing twice once to PDF and once fron PDF which is a waste of time to do it for check prints or working prints during design phase.
  7. Lew who reccommends printing to PDF first.
  8. wall doesnt appear to be connected properly post a plan
  9. The last thing you sould ever consider is attacing the plan.
  10. For 2D X-sects I just use cad boxes it is quick and easy.
  11. The new tool saves a heap of time and is still live, also good to show below grade foundations.
  12. See post #4 from Perry. Thats the way I would try it.
  13. a cad detail from view should take everything in the view, Adjust the layers prior to converting to cad
  14. Todd As you are still learning i would probably wait till the X7 full release in March before upgrading. Even though there are very few differences between the versions. Another month or so would give you that much more knoweledge and you are not going to have to worry about bugs in the software. This version for me has been very good bug wise, better than most previous versions. At the end of the day it comes down to a decission you feel comfortable with. cheers.
  15. you would have to have different wall types for each different wall combination. Then you may be able to calc but I gave up on materials list years ago as it was never right and was so hard to follow.
  16. I think you would have to talk to the home automation people. I assume they would use jpeg or similar and then overlay their controls similar to what Allen Bradley industrial panel views do.
  17. I have not got chief on this machine, but the only other thing that I can think of is in the CA setup in preferences where you can input the file locations you have not inputed the same 'my data folder'. We are all stabbing in the dark slightly, you may have to contact Tech support.
  18. Lew Ray is correct there was something that I saw that if SSA expired prior to March 15? X7 would not be available. You wont miss anything that is in X7 or should I say X6.5.
  19. Import dxf and trace over once it is scaled correctly.
  20. Is the file location path exactly the same from each of the computers? ie the file resides on a seperate server and the path is something like g:\plans\2015\client\filename. If it is like this it should all be there as the plans are supposed to look in the current directory first. If the path is different fron each comouter you may have problems.
  21. Open layout and export each sheet individually to dwg. You then have to realize that the actual plan is not at 1:1 as per normal model space drawing, only the title block is 1:1. There is also another very recent post on this subject I responed to yesterday.
  22. Perry and Scotts method is how I do it. Its the simple way.
  23. You need to adjust the roof plane, and hence the wall heights. Or if the roof planes have to remain as is use a manual ceiling plane. a picture would help to clarify what exactly you are aiming for. and the method reqired
  24. export each page to dwg works ok but then you have to scale the the drawing as the title block will be at 1:1 scale and the drawing will be at the sent scale.
