Thanks Joe, forgot about that as I never include the size anyway.

Elevation Rendering Technique's, which do you prefer?
DRAWZILLA replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
I use the grayscale to make your elevations pop, lines are black and at a specific lineweight , roof lines are lighter depending on what color or grayish they are. walls are around a 50 lineweight so they are thicker. All done with anno-sets automatically. -

Right now some cities around here are requiring a digital "PDF"copy of the plans on a thumb drive or no permit will be issued. -

Around here topo maps/ grading plans run about 15 grand so I don't get them with every job, only the projects that really need them.- 10 replies

"PNG" files have transparency, try converting it.

You can also set the stairs as winders and use invisible walls to the sides. The stairs will expand to those invisible walls.
-
also if you place trusses, the process will automatically delete the conventional framing.

I could never draw from my phone. Hope its not going that way

Larry knows, trust him -
Sometimes you have to do some test prints until you get it exactly the way you need it, then set up your template plan and you never have to do it again. I don't think any templates I have would work for you b/c I set them up for me using line weights and text sizes that you might not want. I also use anno-sets for everything, most people don't. What I'm trying to say is you won't like my system and you should develop your own. I know I couldn't even draw with my friend Scott's templates b/c my mind would die using his. He loves his SAM method (He invented it) but he is a fast thinker and it works for him and a lot of others around here. I'm getting older and want to live a few more years, at least. There are a lot of other reasons not to use other templates, here in California most plans and structural are 25 pages for an addition and what my system includes you might never want on your plans. Where you are from has a lot to do with what will be included in your plan. Just create your own templates and improve them as you go, that's how I did it and still am because Chief updates every year and every year I have changes to the plan and layout.

Just use one of the last three boxes or darker side of the standard grayscale boxes on the color DBX, if that makes any sense. Also a line thickness of 8 or above

Nice one Michael.

follow Scott's lead for a fast answer on your problem, looks like a simple answer.

I like to leave auto attic walls on and at some point along the way I need to turn them off and continue, not sure when that point exactly is, usually after the roof is generated. but this also applies to the auto roof planes. For me doing it that way just saves time.

I'm not sure as I have a lot of "pdf's" in a final plan but never put them in the actual plan, I put them in the layout. The only slowness I see might be a couple seconds only on the pages with the full size "pdf's" on them like a title 24 pages at the end of the plan. With larger plans I will just not open the layout while working on the plan. I really don't see much of a slowness as you do. Lots of round railing can also slow it down, looks like you have lots of railings, try to turn them off while working on the plan. Also not sure if the Zeon's are the best CPU for Chief, ask Larry H. about that, something about multi-threading. I know he was having the same slowness.

Vector is different than png, bmp, Vector will enlarge and still get a crisp view and the others won't. They will just pixelate. Adobe does all of them, so you have to make sure which one you are getting. BTW "pdf" doesn't mean you are getting a vector view. Mike I have relatives in Prescott--nice town, I may move there some day.
