  1. From a construction viewpoint, when creating a planset, the designer must not lose sight of what is needed when the designer is trying to convey what the customer wants to the construction workers onsite without anyone having to decipher whether something is an 8, 5 or a 3. That is why I like clear, easy to read fonts. BTW, I have never heard a framer or roofer discussing the artistic appeal of the plans... ;-)
  2. Been using arial forever. I think it is a clean, easy to read font.
  3. It would be great if Chief could export directly into google earth. I have had to do this for an apartment complex for preliminary concept approval. I know SoftPlan allows you to export a 3D model directly into google earth. I believe you can import the surrounding area into Twinmotion and Lumion??? That may be the easiest way for you to use your CA model for what I think you are wanting to do with your project.
  4. I wonder if the F1 key would “help”?
  5. Do you have a list of requirements from your local building department?
  6. Did you use ceiling planes to define your ceiling pitch?
  7. I concur wholeheartedly with the above recommendation. Another one is “The Visual Handbook of Building and Remodeling.
  8. How come you don't go with the engineered drawings of the trusses from the truss manufacturer?
  9. There are some good videos in the CA Training Videos library. Have you tried there yet? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/#playlist-108
  10. Do you have something drawn on the pages not showing?
  11. Did you click on the "other" file extension options so dae was an option when you tried? It is the box to the right of the file name box with the down arrow icon...
  12. Does your PDF viewer have the ability to separate a PDF file into seperate pages?
  13. Did you do a search on this forum yet? There was a lot of discussion on this topic recently.
  14. I have the HP T520 and can't complain... before that I used an HP 450C. Before that I had an HP 1055CM but I didn't use it enough to justify the cost of replacing the large ink jugs all the time when they dried up. Before that I used an HP carousel pen plotter... that was fun to watch... you never knew where it was going to draw next on the paper.
  15. Thanks David. Did the mouse driver and Chief didn't shut down on me this, But... I am suspecting the Nvidia driver update last week may be the problem... I am getting strange results in both CAD programs now. I am getting pointy things showing up and rays of solid planes and dark clouds in 3D???
  16. Thanks, David Looking forward to see what tech has to say in the morning...
  17. Well, it doesn't appear to be Twin Motion... I completely uninstalled TM and Chief is still shutting down without my permission.
  18. How many who are having problems also installed the recent Twin Motion update???
  19. I'm suspecting a combination of the video card upgrade and the Chief upgrade... I am getting some bizarre 3D stuff going on. And the program just shutdown AGAIN while working in 2D. I am now working on a project in my other CAD program and I am not have any of these issues with the 3D renderings in that program but my screen did go blank when I did a quick animation and stayed blank until I clicked on the screen with my mouse, then the program came back???
  20. Been having the program just shutting down whenever it feels like it since the last update.
  21. Have you tried edit area copying the plan from your proprietary file and paste it into the oob template that comes with CA?
  22. Wouldn’t it be pretty similar to doing a finished basement?
  23. Been using Zoom for years... had less problems with it over using GTM.
  24. What if instead of using a pony wall, you added a knee wall level between the foundation level and the first floor to show the framed wall part? Kind of like how Chief adds an attic level to place gable walls and such...
