Yes, at the absolute minimum we need a break tool and the ability to drag the box boundaries off ortho. You can overlap room boxes and use the Drawing Order to determine how the rooms build.

If all you want is cad, you could draw one regular polygon starter tile accurately placed. You could use the same technique but use a variety of 3D objects to represent a single tile like a Material Region, Splashback, Slab, Solid, etc... Then use Multiple Copy with a Secondary Offset to create an array that takes into account the tile size plus the joint width. These tiles could be very thin and use a different 3D object placed behind the whole area for the grout lines. Build it in Chief like you would in the RW. This simple one took about a minute or so. I am surprised that more users manually measuring existing buildings don't use Chiefs Space Planning tools. You can use the Assistant to give you the appropriate room boxes - or you can place them manually. You can then size the room boxes from your measurements and drag them into position. You then Build House and Chief uses your interior and exterior wall definitions to build the floor plan. It will build things like stairs and auto place doors - which will obviously need editing. If you have any auto functions like auto roofs and auto framing toggled on, they will all build. I am not saying it is the be all and end all, but it may prove helpful for some users

If you are going to use solids, there is another way. Make your solid wall and then use a shaped 3D Solid and boolean Subtraction to cut the hole in your Solid wall. It doesn't take long to shape the 3D Solid cutout to get the shape you want. You can then stretch, resize, move the hole to suit. This one is as you describe with a flat bottom, sloping sides and different slope to the top.

It worked for me in X11

Glitch with bow window, ceiling above lowered.

How are you dropping the bow window ceiling height? -
Did you discover Point To Point Resize? It allows you to rescale an image by using a known length.

Here is a diagram of the setup in Oz. I should have referred to my example as a Truncated Girder Truss. Note the use of hip trusses. This is a diagram from the Pryda manual - they are truss manufacturers. https://pryda.com.au/wp-content/uploads/Pryda-Roof-Truss-Installation-Guide-2020.pdf
-
I don't think I would have ever said that. I have always suggested to start with auto roofs and then only resort to manual when you have exhausted the auto way.
-
Looks like a standard hip truss? The geometry will probably change depending on your sizes, spans, etc You can always edit them with fine tuning in the Truss Detail

Are you aware that you have complete control over the windows while using the OOB bow window? Use the Has Raised Floor option in the bow window dbx. This is a standard bow window:

I think that is because you have a plain curve selected - not a Walkthrough Path. You can convert the curve to a Walkthrough Path by selecting Convert Polyline from the Edit menu. Or cancel your selection and you can then use Create Walkthrough Path to draw one.
-
My guess is that you have the layer Walls, Main Layer Only selected. Those 3 wall layers are probably the main wall layers.
-
Not if you started drawing after the Rotate Plan View was used. Did you check to see what Rotate Plan View is set to? Or, select a wall that runs horizontally across the screen, open the dbx, on the General panel, what is the Wall Angle?
-
Have you used Rotate Plan View? If so, set it back to zero. In this picture I have Rotate Plan View set at 180deg. I selected the polyline and dragged it up the screen, hit tab. Notice how the Y Position is negative value even though I was dragging up the screen. Beware of Rotate Plan View - have a look at the help file on tis topic as it may not do what you think it does.

Spy glass / One way glass / Security glass / Mirror glass
glennw replied to smashing's topic in General Q & A
This may explain a little more. I used the 1800 Bathroom Mirror from the library and changed the mirror material to Mirror and the frame to Color - Burnt so that I could figure out what was going on. I don't know where some of the materials are used. You may have to play around to get the correct component to assign the materials too as they auto arrange in alphabetical order. There are some screwy things going on, but generally this works. -
Spy glass / One way glass / Security glass / Mirror glass

Yes, this can be done - depending on the circumstances. Do you want this as a window, a panel in a wall, a free standing screen......? -
Why not use a Wall Cap for the wall cap?

Time to post the plan.
