basilbabaa
Is there any way to put a windows in the top panel on a garage door? Of any panel of choice for that matter?
Alaskan_Son
Manually. I usually just model those from scratch...ish. Place single panel, stack up as desired, insert panel with glass where I want it, and then convert that stacked configuration to Door Symbol. basilbabaa
Thanks. I was able to get it work with 6 panels and still looked odd because the glass panels did't match the door panels type... And, It's just too hard to do for a 120" x 120" door with 7 panels... Chief refuses to Mull the unit... can't get the distances and overlapping to work to where chief accepts it. Should be as simple as: Build a door just like the garage door company would build and assemble: 1) create a panel door 2) choose your panel type 3) replace panels of choice with a glass unit... This should be built in feature. Especially after 12 versions... At least what I think, but who am I... LOL. I'll let customer use their imagination... Rich_Winsor
I don't want to step on anybody's toes, but if this software is no longer being offered for sale, I don't have a problem with giving it out to people who would like it. It's just a small (6.3 Mb) executable file.

See the Post by Charles above as I am not sure if that would violate your User licence ...I am not 100% sure this is AbandonWare ( freeWare) or not....perhaps PM Charles ? * would be great if Owner Allows the Program to be posted here on the Forum eg in the Symbols Forum or something.... Mick my man, you are honest to a fault. I was one of apparently only three who bought the latest available version from Charles. As I recall shortly after that the trail to Kerry Francis went cold. With him unavailable and/or unresponding I don't have a problem passing it along (for free) to interested parties. If someone finds a current source, then by all means go that route. It was well worth the $20 asking price I paid.

TBH I thought I had seen more recent posts than Charles' in 2017 so thought the Author was still around, but if he is not around anymore, then I guess it is AbandonWare and the Program could be posted for all to use, I am sure there are many who would would grab a copy if made available here in the Tips or Symbols Forum or which ever way you would prefer to distribute it. *** maybe not best check this posted today..... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/15059-garage-door-wizard-update/?do=findComment&comment=219405 Mick. Create panels as needed and combine to form a door symbol. How do you create panels and combine to a door? are they polyline solids? Trying to find something where the glass panels are the second row down from the top. Not the top row. thanks, Angela Hi Angela, a 'simple' way is to find the door in the library that's closest to what you want. In a new plan, draw a single wall long enough for several doors. Place the desired door in the wall. In a camera view, delete the surfaces where you'd like a window to be. Select the door, and convert to a new door symbol and place in the wall. Now add and place the windows. You can do this using solids, 3d moldings, or a symbol from the library, like a framed picture for example. Then select all the windows and the door and convert to a new door symbol. Keep making adjustments until you're satisfied, then add the final result to your library so you can use it in any project. If that's too daunting, you can always ask someone to help you, or make one for you. A good description or picture of the door you'd like would be very helpful.
