Thanks for the Info Ed , I see now that they also released the Game Ready Driver 528.24 Overnight as well

Mick.

Mick, I updated to the 528.24 Studio version today and so far everything is working. All of the triggers that would crash CA prior are working fine now. Have only had a half day of test on it, but so far so good.

I installed Nvidia 528.24 Studio Driver and I swear all system text has gotten smaller. Anyone else with a similar experience?

I was waiting for Ed's reply to be honest, but that does sound strange.

@Kbird1Thanks for the reply. After 2 restarts (not sure if anything changed there) and a night's sleep, today I feel everything looks normal again.

I had been reading an e-book (for a few hours) with fairly large font so perhaps that messed with my own perspective.

so far so good with me

Several websites are now reporting a Bug in Nvidia Driver 531.18 GR  ( Latest ) which can cause the CPU to be hogged by between 10-14% for some ...as usual YMMV.

The advice, if it effects you, is to go back to 528.24 or 528.48

I installed 528.49 last Friday, no issues so far.

Yes, I've gone back to 528.49 .

It is 531.18 which has the CPU bug, though Chief in of itself may not trigger it though, it is mostly being seen after the Nvidia Driver is used in a 3D application , so most reports are from Gamers.

FYI:  Nvidia Hotfix Eliminates High CPU Usage Driver Bug

https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5450

I was having high CPU usage, and this fixed it for me...not totally related to the intent of this thread in regards to Chief, but still on the topic of drivers...hope it helps someone.

Thanks for the Update , and it is Driver related so no worries there..... especially since someone above reported crashes with the 531.xx Driver , similar to the Issues with the 525.xx Series.

You all are always on top of this... please excuse my ignorance.. how can I tell what driver is on my computer? (game ready vs studio) Device Manger details for the Nvidia does not expressly state one or the other.

Thank you

Edit: Never mind. Found it in GeForce Experience. Thanks

Geforce Experience, will alert you to new Drivers , if you let it install with any new Driver ...you may already have it perhaps? but personally I don't use it and don't let it install, as I don't use any of it's other Features and being a Computer Enthusiast, I like to look after my own systems, and like to do a bit of research 1st to make sure the Driver is a "good" Version.

Personally I have not found any difference in GR or Studio Drivers , in Chief or while doing some occasional gaming, and as far as I know Chief does not take advantage of any of the Studio Driver Enhancements that other 3D products like Blender and Maya do/can use.

Chief , shows you the Driver in Use, in Preferences > Render > Video Card Status > Driver Version : ( last 5 digits are the Driver No# )

image.thumb.png.e823e12944a35d1376f6dbbe28287f91.png

You can also right Click you Desktop and open the Nvidia Control Panel  ( on Win 11 click Show more options 1st )  and in the bottom left Corner you will see "System Information" click it, and the DBX will show all the System info, the Driver No# being the 1st one.

* Last Driver version NOT shown in pics above.....
