  1. They aren't technically framing members. Turn on the layer for Walls, Railings
  2. I think PBR has a limit if 8 lights by default. You have exceeded that number which is why the other under-counter lights are not on. Increase the number of lights to 40 and they will be on. Try this video for some settings and ideas. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/6155/clay-rendering-real-time-ray-tracing.html?playlist=102 BTW, my current graphics card (Nvidia GTX 750 Ti) also doesn't support real time raytrace, but the setting helped me get to PBR rendering I am sharing here.
  3. Chief does some of that now. I have Twinmotion and use it from time to time. Very easy export from Chief right into TM for renderings. I will attach a couple of TM renderings for example, and these are with me opening TM and knowing hardly anything about it. When you said you are not paying for SSA any longer, I thought that meant you had found a software that does all the things you described. What software are you looking at that does all those things, is as user friendly as Chief, and doesn't cost $5K/year? Bear in mind, I am not defending the direction of Chief, I am genuinely curious about what is out there that could give me the ease of Chief, with the cost, and that will do all those things.
  4. How about a logo? She still looks fantastic, I however...well..... BTW. We have never visited Idaho and are thinking of coming to the UG meeting this year. Do other spouses come along?
  5. If you are using a manufactures drawer front, you need to check the specs of that manufacturer to see how small the drawer front can be to maintain the rails before their "alternate drawer front" kicks in.
  6. Because the drawer on the left is too small for the top and bottom rails to be visible.
  7. @Jwaltonwhat software have you found that does all things you listed above? What is the cost of it?
  8. Check availability before you spec those. Last time I needed them for a project we were out of luck.
  9. It's the roof baseline. Just turn off that layer.
  10. I use "L" for lights when doing electrical plans and SHIFT + L for the line tool. I don't have an issue. I also use W+E for exterior walls and W+I for interior walls. Again, No issues. Did I get lucky?
  11. I would building those with cabinets with the countertop being the tread so that the decorative panels can be more easily added.
  12. Use the ceiling plane tool or add a floor above the basement.
  13. The side gable should follow that front wall under the porch. That would create the return you are looking for.
  14. While I agree it should give more insight, did you select to move the item and then enter the absolute coordinates of 0,0 so that it would move it into the field of view? And if so, was the item highlighted (selected) when it arrived at 0,0?

  16. In the IRC look in section R502. For the I-joists look in the manufacturers literature for the end bearing requirement.
  17. Bill I'm going to give you my email joeymdp@gmail.com I work with a builder in Jacksonville that have an engineer we work with, let me see how backed up they are. Last house we did took a couple months though.
  18. That should never be a consideration. Trusting someone with a measuring tape on a job site is asking to get sued. My plans contain a note that states printed dimensions override anyone's tape measure. 3/16" is an acceptable scale for residential plans.
  19. I have an Epson WF 7610 that will print up to 12x18 which is perfect for this.
  20. Don't need multiple plans? We can schedule one off builders sets as well. Let's have a chat! Shoot me an email and I will get you a sample set of plans. joeymdp@gmail.com
  21. If you are new to X13 you are sending a SAVED PLAN VIEW most likely and that SPV was created with the reference layer on.
  22. @ChiefUserBigRob if you are going to provide the printing, you need to make sure you are compensated for the time away from the computer baby sitting the printer. I've been there, done that....sold the printer. I figured that if the local shop was charging $3 per sheet, I needed to charge $6 to cover the paper, ink, and my time away from getting the drawings to the print stage. I bumped up the price and people stopped asking me to print them, which is what I wanted.
  23. Are you saying you are surprised by that condition? That sounds rude, and it's not meant to be, but placing basement stairs against an exterior will always result in needing to find a way to cover, insulate, and seal that rim area. I like to fur out the wall above so that it aligns, a window seat can be added, or a plant shelf. Add a note to your internal Q.C. and design documents that if a basement stair well is on an exterior wall, this will need to be dealt with and have the conversation with the homeowner during the initial design phase.
  24. No lie....the last time I talked with our new local "code official" about shear and uplift...this was for a pavilion I designed for the city....her eyes glazed over as she was trying to not look like she had zero clue what I was talking about. P.S....she's a friend of the mayor
