Joe is right, it's easier to open an outswing door and you can do that before someone will get to the front door or becomes aware of whats going on. -
Exterior door swing & landings

This picture is from 2003 code. Now we go by 2015 and I don't see that anymore other than the code I posted. There is one more code portion intended for landings: R311.7.6 Landings for stairways. There shall be a floor or landing at the top and bottom of each stairway. The width perpendicular to the direction of travel shall be not less than the width of the flight served. Landings of shapes other than square or rectangular shall be permitted provided that the depth at the walk line and the total area is not less than that of a quarter circle with a radius equal to the required landing width. Where the stairway has a straight run, the depth in the direction of travel shall be not less than 36 inches (914 mm). Exception: A floor or landing is not required at the top of an interior flight of stairs, including stairs in an enclosed garage, provided that a door does not swing over the stairs. -

R311.3 Floors and landings at exterior doors. There shall be a landing or floor on each side of each exterior door. The width of each landing shall be not less than the door served. Every landing shall have a dimension of not less than 36 inches (914 mm) measured in the direction of travel. The slope at exterior landings shall not exceed 1/4 unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (2 percent). Exception: Exterior balconies less than 60 square feet (5.6 m2) and only accessible from a door are permitted to have a landing less than 36 inches (914 mm) measured in the direction of travel. -

R311.1 Means of egress. Dwellings shall be provided with a means of egress in accordance with this section. The means of egress shall provide a continuous and unobstructed path of vertical and horizontal egress travel from all portions of the dwelling to the required egress door without requiring travel through a garage. The required egress door shall open directly into a public way or to a yard or court that opens to a public way. R311.2 Egress door. Not less than one egress door shall be provided for each dwelling unit. The egress door shall be side-hinged, and shall provide a clear width of not less than 32 inches (813 mm) were measured between the face of the door and the stop, with the door open 90 degrees (1.57 rad). The clear height of the door opening shall be not less than 78 inches (1981 mm) in height measured from the top of the threshold to the bottom of the stop. Other doors shall not be required to comply with these minimum dimensions. Egress doors shall be readily openable from inside the dwelling without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. -

Exception: The landing or floor on the exterior side shall be not more than 73/4 inches (196 mm) below the top of the threshold provided the door does not swing over the landing or floor. Where exterior landings or floors serving the required egress door are not at grade, they shall be provided with access to grade by means of a ramp in accordance with Section R311.8 or a stairway in accordance with Section R311.7. R311.3.2 Floor elevations for other exterior doors. Doors other than the required egress door shall be provided with landings or floors not more than 73/4 inches (196 mm) below the top of the threshold. Berkeley bans natural gas in new construction
Greg_NY61 replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
Soon CA will ban toilet paper... Nothing surprises me what's coming out of CA no wonder people run from there. -
If you to build this you would have a knee wall with cabinets against it. Why not design this same way you would build this?

To make this cut perfect you have to do it the same way as you would do crown molding and like Mike said you have to use solids and the piece that will make the cut must be at the right angle as you would set the miter saw to make the cut, which will be the solid piece instead of the miter blade to make a subtraction. You would need to know the spring angle of the crown, roof slope angle, etc It's much easier and faster to do this in SketchUp and you have to place the molding flat with top edge molding as it would lay on the saw against the fence and you have to set the miter angle and saw blade bevel angle that would be one cut and you use the same angles to cut the other piece and join them together and bring them into a the CA and you can use stretch plains to put them together.

Glen, I don't about 20-20 vision, my wife had Lasik eye surgery done, I'm looking to reverse the procedure she doesn't miss anything now :-)

I selected all exposed rafters, go into dbx, select rafter tails and put a checkmark into Remain Aspect Ratio. If checkmark already there, uncheck and re-check again and that will fix the issue. Nguyen new plan 1.zip

Each item is a group. You need to dbl click the house and double click the elevation and apply the color. I just tried it and it works no problem.
-
I have been exporting models in 3DS format into SketchUp to do renderings and you can edit pretty much anything in there, Here is a sample I just dropped a Basement bar in 3DS format, and you can select and edit each item in the model .

I don't know Mark, its to early in the morning my brain didn't click into gear yet... Your way is much faster and easier, is how I usually manipulate shelving also.
-
Just modify manually, get rid of what you don't need and use PSolids to make the shelving. Here is something quick as an example

Roof planes not following wall pitch directive with X11
Greg_NY61 replied to AlvarD's topic in General Q & A
Your building is out of whack is why the roof is off. If you align everything it will build the roof the right way
