I usually keep a copy of Draftsight Free around for checking and looking at AutoCad files.... https://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight-cad-software/free-download/

Both Nvidia and AMD Laptops often have this but in Nvidia Control Panel ( right click the desktop and open it )... Under 3D Settings>Manage 3D settings > you should see a Preferred GPU drop down box at the top..... you can also go upto Desktop on the Menu Bar and Check the Display GPU Activity Icon , so that if the Nvidia card is being used it will put a rainbow coloured icon next to the clock or on the hidden menu....drag it off the hidden menu and drop next to the Time Area if you want to see it all the time... you can also Add Chief to the Programs list on the second Tab if you want it to use settings different from the Global Settings in the Driver couple of pages about Dual Cards setups and changing them... http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-components/how-set-default-graphics-card-3612668/ https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/solutions/ht078706 M. The basics should work like Curt said , using a shed roof at 1-2 degs. with multiple buildings it may be a bit tricky figuring out the settings for each wall , but it could be done with a manual roof plane too. I think 288in ........ 144in of soffit vent (Bottom) 144in of roof/ridge vent (top) how many panels vents depends on how many sq.in each one is .... but in my book you can't have too many vent's.....
-
I think Perry is right , the website has split the result in half because of the 50/50 rule on inlet and outlet air. ie soffit vents and roof vents

That setting does not work for me either ....it works on INTERIOR walls only it seems ....I ringed my porch with exterior walls as a test and the foundation automatically appeared on the Porch as well with Auto foundations on. M.

And if On a Laptop with dual Graphics? that you have set the Nvidia Card as the default for Chief.... There are known display issues with the latest Nvidia Drivers eg version 388.0 and 388.13 especially in DBX's (dialog boxes) with tabs no opening etc. On my system they are fine in Chief but don't allow the system to sleep Properly.....still finding 385.02 are the best for me...

That's what the Suggestions Forum is For.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/forum/8-suggestions/

Designer1 does mention not being able to find an image ...... next time you see one get that camera/phone out... Did you try the Sketchup 3D Warehouse for Rangehoods?
-
Probably a good thing to add in the Suggestions Forum , strangely they let you add a monolithic Foundation but not a Standard one under Rooms defined by Railing Walls, the Porch Room type gets the Default Slab so it should be easy enough to have the option for a full foundation ...not everyone lives in California after all with no Frost Depth line...

perhaps I remember it incorrectly and Photon Mapping needs to be on with that old stainless material? i see it is still black ***edit..... quick search on raytrace and black metals , shows photon mapping should be on to fix that , though it may cause speckles in the glass depending on viewing Angle...

It uses the Default setting under Print >Drawing Sheet Setup>Drawing Scale.... at least it works for me ... try setting it to 100mm and see if the Send to layout Scale is now 100mm.... M.

I think Graham might be right X7 still has the old stainless steel materials that went black when Photon Mapping was on.... try my old library from here if you want photon mapping on.... Also: - try turning the chandelier off , so you don't get that light circle on the ceiling ( or alter the light data for it.) - try raising the Ambient occlusion if it is too dark and/or the direct sun intensity eg 20-30 range ( make sure house has a roof and basement built too)

CA sometimes wants to close after deleting an object
Kbird1 replied to cv2702's topic in General Q & A
I did this after seeing posts here about issues with the Undo and Temp Folders....perhaps it was your previous posts on the issue a while back? and things do seem better if not 100% cured... One thing that seems to cause it is if you delete things too fast it seems to me ,you need to let Chief finish the delete before you click on the next thing and hit delete again....At least it seems like I can cause if if I go delete crazy in a test plan for example to start again... It possible i have something bad in my library which causes that lockup but I am not sure how I woould figure that out as Chief's error messages are so obtuse I am not sure if anyone can figure out what caused the issue....assuming it is not a hardlock up and I get nothing... -
I think you have to Create the Terrain , then you can Specify it, I am not sure I have seen a place to set defaults for the Created Terrain 1st though? hopefully someone proves me wrong M.

CA sometimes wants to close after deleting an object
Kbird1 replied to cv2702's topic in General Q & A
I forgot I had changed the default Temp folders for Chief , I made two new folders in the Root of C:\ Drive and then changed the locations to them in Chief in the Preferences>>General>Folders ...... not sure if that is what helped or not but it has been better lately.... -

I have had this issue too and sometimes while working with the Library , the advice around here is to hit Control+S ( or program a mouse button for it) often and save your work manually. -
X2 wont be High DPI aware like alot of older Programs which will likely mean the icons and text are very small , Was it X7 or X8 where we got High DPI icons for Chief ? not sure if this is negated by attaching a 1920 Res. monitor to the laptop for Chief use? DJP may still have X2 installed , perhaps he will know more.... yep...... M.

There are known problems with recent VideoCard Drivers with the Labels and other Tabs , have not seen the lockup issue reported before , but some have solved it by rolling the video driver back to an older one. M.

check out this tutorial....the Knowledge Base (KB) is always worth a check for stuff like this.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01029/specifying-glass-or-cable-railing-panels.html

Probably not very helpful for you but the 1/2 round profile is one of the default types in Chief Premier under Moldings , Profiles and Extrusions.

Are you trying to show an exterior tri-fold or quad fold Door like a NanaWall ? I am not sure Chief's Library shows them open but David Micheal's of DMDz Design ones do, it is an old symbol , so you need to "convert legacy library" with Chief to have it add the .alb file to your User Library. You may need to add/change the materials once imported as the symbols reference folders in X1 it looks like. Have a look about 1/2 way down this page..... David is generous enough to offer some symbols for free... http://www.davidmichaeldesigns.com/free.html
