  1. Copy the Old Library Items to your User Library , then you will always have them and can delete the old catalogue , you can also "export" the old Catalogue and save it for future use before Deleting the current installation if you don't have it backed up already. Mick.
  2. The simple fix is likely to change the Walltypes of them all to the Deck/Fence Walltype, which the Straight Deck Railing Tool uses automatically ( and does not include Drywall) like the Straight (interior) Railing Tool....... and use the Deck tools for deck going forward.... * One other possibility is that your Deck Room is not specified as a deck , that can make the Drywall show too... Straight Deck Railing......... vs Straight (interior) railing M.
  3. There is a known Issue with the Library when updating if the new X15 Library System can't identify the currently loaded Libraries properly, for example you changed the name of the downloaded library, it will still install , but as I found out the new online catalogue doesn't recognize the Library properly later. I had that issue back in May and had to Clean my library out of any Libraries it didn't recognize though I an not sure if this is related but this is the Thread from back in May, read down from the linked post below.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/39045-x15-catalog-update-error-catalog-could-not-be-found-on-the-server/?do=findComment&comment=295358 What happens if you just do an entire Library Update ? any error messages? Mick
  4. I have actually never seen this happen, which symbol is this , or it is all of them? if so post a simple 20'x20' box house showing the Issue , so we can all have a "play" and try and figure it out , maybe a Template setting or ? as I haven't seen a Toilet glow like you put a rope light behind it M.
  5. Hi, yes I regularly create symbols, Plan Sets and Train Others in Chief, eg. Builder, Designers and Architects.... I'll PM you my email so check the envelope icon top right, next to the Bell icon. Mick. MHDesign.
  6. Look nice , happy to see it worked for you..... I actual made the different parts as different materials , so you can change the Hearth or Black Rim to a charcoal if needed , as well as the main Fireplace portion to for example to match your Stucco walls. * You should Open your 1st post perhaps and add the Kiva Southwest to the topic name rather than Spanish , so other can find this topic and perhaps add the Kiva as a Tag as well as bumblebee, to help other Users. M.
  7. Hi, I figured since I was 1/2 way there I'd finish this Kiva Style fireplace and post the Symbol , just remember when resizing it to keep the width and depth equal so it remains a semi-circle. let me know if something doesn't work and I'll have a play with it. Mick. Symbol : MHD_Kiva Style Fire Place 9'.calibz
  8. I am not sure Chief calls it a Boolean Operation (except in error messages) as far as Videos and KB Articles, that may come from Autocad or Sketchup ? ( Gene uses it a lot ) but Chief does have a few short Videos on what it calls "Subtracting Polylines" like this one : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/305/subtracting-polylines-that-overlap.html?playlist=98 or https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/98/moldings-primitives-3d-cad.html Above is the full playlist for Moldings, Primitives, and "3D" CAD ...... it's more you need to play with it and learn by doing unfortunately but I think most will tell you Chief is not a great tool for "modelling" objects with as it not very intuitive....so lots of trial and error even for seasoned Users.... but once done and then turned into a Symbol things work fairly easily..... this Kiva Fireplace is a real doosie though as Chief does not like curved objects at all and is sssssslllllooooowwwwww (that's very slow ) M.
  9. I believe Gene is referring to using Solids and the Subtraction, Merge and Union Tools , but it appears in his Plan he has explode the Solid as all the Solid's faces are Separate. tilted cylinder ( in elevation view ) solid block for subtraction ( to "cut" the cylinder) Select Cylinder > Click Subtraction Icon > Click shaped block do not retain Originals at prompt Then lay a cylinder down to cut the fireplace hole and subtract it the same way . Mick
  10. That was nice of you Dan, I am sure Others will appreciate it. Mick.
  11. Over the network works for me, of course if scheduled they both need to be turned on , it work with more than one computer as well as I use Syncback to copy to another old workstation as well as a backup and to an Ext. USB Drive as well. M.

What software are you using ? and what Dimension Default? perhaps it's not set to snap to "countertops" M.
  13. this should work just fine for recessed grooves ( it also works got board and batten , with the "cut finish layers" setting ) Assuming the version you have , has the Material Region on the Wall Menu? ( not in your Sig.) M.
  14. On the Schedule Tab , Check Include in Schedule As, scroll down and uncheck it under Doors , then goto Window and pick which catergory you want it under eg Pass Through or place it under Custom perhaps as Chief uses Passthroughs itself.
  15. My Desktop is under my Desk in the Office, so I never see it, I'm actually not sure why anyone would want one on their desktop? but I guess that's just me The Laptop is used mostly out of the Office when needed yes but can be hooked to a couple of monitors or even a TV if needed too, but for me I don't need a 4090 etc on a laptop especially not for Chief , Chief just isn't that hard on GPU's in my experience, a Higher end CPU is probably money better spent as Chief is still single threaded. Mick.
  16. Desktops are always more powerful , they basically cripple the laptop GPU to keep the heat down generally by lowering the Power it can pull but about 2/3's. That said it sounds like the Lenovo Legion 5 and the other High End Laptop were not seeing Chief as a 3D App and thus not switching to the Nvidia ( or AMD Discrete GPU) from the Intel iGPU on the CPU, there are several posts here on the Forum about those Issues. I just ordered a Lenovo Legion Pro 7i and the Asus in my Sig. also runs Chief X15 no problem.... Your Sig. is a bit confusing as you say it's a Dell now? Mick.
  17. It sounds to me like to copied the Layersets from each other and then just renamed the Text-Ceiling Layer to Text - Floor ..... without also re-assigning the Layer that Layer displays on, renaming a Text Layer like that, does not also change the Layer it displays on..... go into the Text Default > Line Style > and switch it to Text - Floor in the drop down Menu. I don't have those layers but this should give you the Idea..... Mick.
  18. Never tried that , have you tried just copying the Desktop's Database Libraries Folder over to the Laptop overwriting the existing files if needed, normally I use Syncback on a daily Schedule over the network do that. ............. Documents\Chief Architect Premier X15 Data\Database Libraries > [User_Library.calib and Trash.calib] M.
  19. Is it still free? I thought that changed? unless grandfathered in? been a while since I played with it as Chief by in large has been good enough but as a general rule I don't add all the landscaping or other "Set Dressing" either. Is Twinmotion necessary ? no , but you do need a computer with a Videocard capable of RTRT ie a 2000, 3000, or 4000 Series Nvidia Card and then learning the ins and outs of RTRT of course but the Denoiser in X15 has been a game changer vs the previous 2 Versions IMHO. M.
  20. It's also a good Idea to let Chief build a Auto foundation for the same reason ...to help stop light bleed especially No Pics and no Plan make that a guessing game..... Mick.
  21. Yes it's just the Inner line so it shows in Plan View * it's not a good idea Larry to add layers of Paint on Walls ......as Chief only wraps the outer most layer around the ends etc of walls.... instead take the RGB No# from your ADU-Beige Color and use it for the Drywall's Color instead of Chief's default Beige. M.
  22. Too me as well so it would be good if you did your Sig with your system details and version of Chief, (See CS and mine) as it sounds like your Videocard may not be upto a newer version of Chief. ie if you went from X12 to X15.....
  23. You haven't actually said what you don't like about that Texture , but you can also play with the X and Y scale , eg double or quadruple them ( 12" or 24") I have done the same as Rob though myself as "Brown treated" is not common ( and looks ugly ) M.
  24. I'd say that would be a good "sweet spot" , most cards now come with 3 DP ( display port) and 1 HDMI output , and most monitors have both as inputs M.
  25. As far as I know Bob that is correct , but you would need to confirm directly with Sales on that. This is the Thread from this Time Last year about the new Subscription Model though........... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/37322-chief-architect-software-licensing-changes-beginning-january-10-2023/?do=getNewComment M.
