  1. You haven't told us what it is? Flat roof ?, Parapet Roof? , you could supply your test plan for others to play with as well perhaps, stuff like this is likely to be dependent on what is needed and I'd say is only a "typical" condition in california M.
  2. I guess not then, longtime since I've see HD Pro.... M.
  3. Hi you are actually on Chief Talk , there is also a HomeTalk for the HomeDesigner Products too, but you should be able to create a new layer in Pro I think on the Layer or Line Style Tab if Pro is the same. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ might want to add your Sig. too..... saves you from entering tyour version with every question... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 M.
  4. This just popped up on my phone , so I thought I'd share the Post as I have a client that got the i7 variant and 4070 /13900hx back in July and she is happy with it for chief..... * do you due diligence and check at Lenovo itself too just in case their BF Sale has started early too https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1745682-REG/lenovo_82wk0083us_16_legion_pro_5i.html
  5. This may work but choices maybe pretty limited for a CAD line eg, Layer, color of the line , line type? M.
  6. Move the Item(s) on the Layer to a existing layer or a new one 1st........... M.
  7. Generally only the SSD (or NVME) or Ram are upgradable on Laptops and as noted in you other Thread the GTX series of videocards won't work for PBR RTRT abd unfortunately the 1660Ti GPU is not upgradable ( at least it is very rare for laptops to have upgradable GPU's unlike desktops but MSI and Lenovo have plenty of options depending on your budget and BF is just around the corner. Mick.
  8. This KB article may help https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00199/modifying-the-scale-of-an-imported-dwg-dxf.html another way which can get you very close is to measure a known Dimension Line length once imported into Chief and then calculate the "Resize Factor" use as many decimals points as possible in T/R (Pic below) then CAD Block the WHOLE Imported DWG and (T/R) Transform/Replicate > Resize > [ enter resize Factor] , then unblock it and check the dimension again. Scaling in Chief Scaling Images or PDFs.pdf Mick.
  9. If you don't need moldings ? I'd suggest you use 3D solids instead, and if moldings are need use a Molding Polyline for them. M.
  10. Just Create a Foundation, ( Build>Floor>Foundation) though I'd set your Plan Defaults 1st, and then alter the different areas on the Foundation level (0) level as needed eg 48" crawlspace or 96" Basement Area. M.
  11. Only the 2000, 3000 and 4000 Series have the RTX Hardware needed for PBR - RTRT ( Real Time Ray Tracing) the 9,10 and 16 Series NV. Cards should be able to use the X12 version of the PBR view though which wasn't too bad. Mick.
  12. Are you referring to My pic of the Reset of Defaults above? That was just a quick way to force every wall back to Chief's Default of a Hip Wall so Auto-build would work. You should check both your new Template and this plan as someone has set the Default Exterior Walls to have High Shed/ Gable wall as the Roof Default. (see pic) * I think you may have meant to mark my post as the solution, not your post too.....
  13. You've Set ALL the upper Floor Walls as HighShed/Gable .......... Use Edit > Reset Defaults > All Floors > Roof directives (at a minimum) Mick.
  14. Posting the Plan is always the best idea if possible...... there are just too many variables M.
  15. Yes , you need a Nvidia 2000, 3000 or 4000 Series Videocard to support X15 RTRT, however I thought if the Hardware was not Capable, then Chief uses the older PBR "Light Engine" from X12 , but as you have X15 I would Open a Tech. Support case ( through your Online Account) and ask a few questions and get the info direct from Chief. A newer Videocard maybe an option too for a Desktop computer, they have come down in price quite a lot this year.... Mick.
  16. DB's suggestions would be the 1st things I'd look at too if "auto-Build" is on. M.
  17. Not in front of Chief but I am fairly sure you can click the Orbit Icon, ( or Alt-O) reposition yourself and hit escape (ESC) , and the Paint Tool should be active again.... Mick.
  18. The rest of the "control" (defaults) are picked up from whatever Dimension Default is currently active. Not sure what Version you are using but in X15 unlike earlier versions you can show Temp. Dims even if there is an existing Dim. there currently. M.
  19. I agree sounds like you have accidently modified your Default template , if you are using Chief's Default Templates? the 2nd half of this article will show you how to simply restore by renaming a Folder......... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01866/resetting-template-files.html M.
  20. No sure if the same Issue but I used to see this in iPhone Photos that on a Windows 10 computer, that could not read the orientation info embed in the pic, so I had to open them in a Windows Photo app and rotate as needed and resave the pics., but it sounds like you may have tried that? perhaps post the pic , I am sure other wil "play" with it and figure it out for you...... M.
  21. I don't FB , never have, so I would never see this , but he hasn't been back here since post this yest. , if it was solved on FB , he could of posted back here so people weren't wasting their time replying. This is why one reason I think Chief should just include the Version under everyone's Avatar, it would be Soooo Muuccch easier..... especially since they insist on sending Home Designer Users to the Chief Forum instead of their own - Hometalk Forum. M.
  22. Not anymore for me at least, spending 10 mins on a Help post to find out they have a 3 yr old version is inconsiderate. Nothing against the OP but he hasn't posted since 2021 and He never replied to either post back then so I will leave you two to it.... M.
  23. Best bet for sure , I have a feeling perhaps you Roof Structure is setup incorrectly..... You haven't done your Forum Signature so we also don't know what Version of Chief you are using which in this case is likely needed info as the Roof Framing etc has changed and we can now do Purlins etc in X15 here's how to do that please. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 Mick.
  24. Personally, I have not seen that Issue, so providing the Plan as suggested is the best way to get help on this one..... As Rene mentioned to might want to check out the other Dimensioning Tools or see if the Auto elevation Dimension Tool works for you.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1595/dimensioning-cabinet-face-items-and-openings.html?playlist=92 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/128/dimensioning-wall-elevations.html?playlist=92 Mick.
