  1. that is on NewEgg.com, she is in Canada , and the Price will be a lot different on NewEgg.ca if it even available. The other is in Canada but there are only 3 in the whole country at that price , and you need to be local to the Store as Openbox can not be Shipped. M.
  2. did you check out the Lenovo Canada Website? the 8th gen Slim i7 with 4070 maybe an option depening on budget and configuration. https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/configurator/cto/index.html?bundleId=82Y3CTO1WWCA1 M.
  3. Almost all Laptops allow for Ram and Hard-drive (NVME these days) Upgrades and Additions these days, on my Asus in my Sig. you simply undo the bottom and remove it. Open Box at BB? I didn't see that, FYI openbox models don't usually Ship, they are only available at the local store usually. The GB has good Thermals (important in all Laptops to avoid throttling of the CPU and GPU) but I have not researched (googled reviews) of the Asus. M.
  4. It shows as $2200 for me at BB , which makes the One I linked above at CC on Sale a better Deal......... for $2200 you can even get the 32GB Ram and still be under $2200 M.
  5. You are right , the only difference you see is where you can choose the Dollar type at the top...... and then to have to choose the option you want like the CPU,GPU,RAM and OS .
  6. going to your link the price shown it the lowest spec'd model and does not even include an operating system.... and is still a bit over the Bestbuy one...... The one I linked is On Sale , $300 off ....... M.
  7. It loads as $CDN for me but does not include Windows 11, the 32GB of Ram , the RTX 4070 etc etc M.
  8. I still think this is a great Option and if you have $2200 in the budget you can also get the extra Ram at the same time ( they may have a openbox, so check local store ) https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419&item_id=236109 Ram ( check openbox too) https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311&item_id=227147 Mick
  9. Unfortunately Rene at the config. you mention it is well over $3200...... not the $2200 budget she now seems to have..... M.
  10. TIP: Always Close Chief each day at least once, or turn your computer off at night........ M.
  11. You need to read the Full Thread, from this point at least............ looks like the same Issue I had.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/39045-x15-catalog-update-error-catalog-could-not-be-found-on-the-server/?do=findComment&comment=295429 Mick.
  12. Chief Updated the CAD Blocks Library today, so we shouldn't be seeing any Errors now on updating Catalogues M.
  13. Yes Lower End AMD CPU I believe and about 33% slower than a 13700K M.
  14. There is nothing wrong with the i7 Intel CPUs either, I've never had an i9 myself , and upgrading the Ram is easy - it can be done later if you find you need it, eg during Black Friday or Xmas Sales. In fact the last one you posted, the Gigabyte would probably be the one I'd suggest for you, assuming it is available "open box" at one of their Locations near you? https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419&item_id=237633 Mick.
  15. 1. He was referring to your current laptop, anything with a Nvidia 2000, 3000 or 4000 will do RTRT 2. I was just hopeful your Boss might go to $2000 before Taxes 3. Correct 4. Intel and AMD (ryzen) CPUz are more preference these days , early on Chief recommended Intel and personally I always go Intel myself. Mick
  16. Many 16" screens are pretty close in size to the Older Style 17" models due to the much smaller bezels and the screen resolution is higher now so real estate wise I don't think you'd loss anything. My 17" diag. screen (1980 res) in my Sig is 15"w x 8 1/2"h...... and it runs Chief fine though not as fast as my desktop of course. M.
  17. Rene is right above about the Lenovo 7 Series, a Client got one last Month and is very happy, ( I told Her to get 32GB Ram and the extra 1TB NVME for RAID ) but the pricing and availability in Canada is not the same as in the US by a long shot usually but it might be worth a look as I think the "Back to School Sales" just started this week. This is the one My Client got in July and it's on sale , ( you'll need to configure it I think) though you'd need an additional $1000-1200 for the 13900H, 4070 model and 32GB ( Lenovo is one of the few who don't scam you on Ram and Drive Upgrades) though it appears in Canada, they don't offer the Extra 1TB Drive as an addon like in the US. The 1TB in Canada is the upgrade from 512 GB but I think I'd still be happy with it https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/configurator/cto/index.html?bundleId=82Y3CTO1WWCA1 Of course they Have Models in the Higher Ranges like you may want for Xmas too Jason Mick.
  18. I don't disagree, but the Laptops She is looking at are pre-configured, and most come with 16GB Ram , sometimes it is even soldered to the MoBo these days, but most modern laptops have easy access to the Ram and Drives for User Upgrades in the future, and extra Ram can be gotten on Sale Cheaper usually than through the ManF. Website for example eg at Dell or HP etc. Mick.
  19. I get this on almost every install of a catalogue, and think it is an erroneous error message as the Catalogues install just fine since I did the Laborious Fix in this Thread. Read from Here Down........ https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/39045-x15-catalog-update-error-catalog-could-not-be-found-on-the-server/?do=findComment&comment=295429 5FT-20 is correct above ......... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/39045-x15-catalog-update-error-catalog-could-not-be-found-on-the-server/?do=findComment&comment=295444 The Fix with the Help of Support https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/39045-x15-catalog-update-error-catalog-could-not-be-found-on-the-server/?do=findComment&comment=295586 Mick
  20. Has your Boss given your a budget Number $$$ wise for the Purchase? as CC also has some options on Clearance I see...... one has a RTX 3080 which is a stronger Video card that the 4060 even though from the 3000 Series (3rd from top) vs the newer 4060 ( 2nd from bottom) , and is only $50 more https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419&item_id=187823 There is also this Gigabyte Laptop with a 4070 GPU which is stronger than the 3080 but is $300 more than the one suggested, but I think would be worth the extra especially longterm. https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419&item_id=236109 or for the same price if an Intel CPU is preferred this one https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419&item_id=236109 or this 17" model if you like a bigger screen for the same price as those above https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419&item_id=235071 Mick
  21. Or in the Default Window before placing them or in your Template if you always use the same Manufacturer. And it shows up in Layout only if you send the Window Schedule to Layout, same as the Door and other Schedules... I personally prefer to do that from a Schedule in a Cad Detail, rather than Plan View. M.
  22. as an aside to this issue.....Make the Plotter your default Printer ( or a PDF Printer ) and delete Microsoft XPS ...at least I am not aware of anyone who uses it or the M$ PDf Printer for that matter.... CP>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers> Printers , right click (RC) and make one the Default instead of M$ XPS > RC M$ XPS and delete/remove M.
  23. I would advise you to call Sales and get something in writing ( email confirmation) of what is discussed..... I believe going forward you would need to pay the annual subscription currently of $2000 .... I also believe you can use X13 with no Issues but am unsure of the situation if you go to the subscription Model and the stop paying again. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/37322-chief-architect-software-licensing-changes-beginning-january-10-2023/ https://www.chiefarchitect.com/licensing/*** *** Chief has changed the link above to lead to the Upgrade Page now M.
  24. It's all about the Video Card with Chief and why they suggest a 4GB Nvidia or AMD Graphics card ( 2GB minimum ) as Chief has always had various Issues with Intel Graphics cards over the years, and there is currently a Known Incompatibility with Intel Arc GPUs for example and previous Intel Xe / Iris cards as well, which maybe your Issue if only running X12. My thread is here: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31335-known-incompatibilities-with chief-architect-software/?tab=comments#comment-260441 Chief KB Articles https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02761/chief-architect-minimum-system-requirements.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/known-incompatibilities.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03146/identifying-the-shader-model-of-your-graphics-card-in-windows.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems-in-chief-architect.html M.
  25. I was just pointing out, in case Kathy is not aware that the SSA Model is no longer available, even to those with existing SSA Licenses. My client has fully switched to X15, so I don't have info on whether they can Install Versions Older than the Version the License was Purchased with as well. M.
